Not bad at all.
I'll start now and say I only got this for the 3 Phantasy Star games 2-4,although I'd never played most of the games on here on a Megadrive, save for Altered Beast,Sonic and Bonanza Bros.I knew what they were like,I'm not going to bang on about what should have been on there, the only one that pops into mind for me was maybe Toejam and Earl,it has a great number of options, you can even play in progressive scan, rescale the screen etc.The one thing I didn't notice at first was the ability to save anywhere, this is a godsend as most of these old games had little or no save system, this makes games like Golden Axe slightly more playable and Sonic a bit of a walkover. Some games are still terrible mind you,all in all fun for a while, and it beats getting those 'vintage' ones off of Xbox live!I'd just like to point one thing out though, when you unlock the cheat sheet, you will find a lot of the cheats to be incorrect,e.g Sonic's level select cheat needs you to press the square button,it's the cross etc.

Not quite a "Mega Drive" collection but still a good one nevertheless
For any retro gamer or anybody looking to buy back a quick piece of their childhood memories, a title like Sega Mega Drive Collection is practically enough to jump out at them from the gaming shelves, you've probably long since sold or given away your original console and games because they were taking up too much "space" and now you've got the perfect excuse to buy some of it back on one handy little PS2 disc, but let's probe a little deeper and look what's being offered here?. By the time I write this quick review you've now got another choice with a version called Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection that has wound its way to the PS3 and Xbox 360 so I assume if you are looking at this you haven't gone with them yet and are still playing on a PS2 or an early PS3 which can still play this game but why might you still go for it? Its plus sides should be obvious it offers access to quite s substantial amount of Genesis/Mega Drive games for a price that is pretty knockdown, but when you start thinking about the gaming industry and such pesky things as "licences" the downsides become pretty obvious too.For starters it does offer a good list of games, but they are nearly all restricted to Sega made games and as with most compilations of this type not every game is a classic, you would have to be pretty motivated by one or two of its titles to buy this compilation as in some ways it is not complete. Of course that's the way it works with these compilations, you're probably not even interested in half of the 28 on offer here, Sonic was pretty much the top attraction to Sega Genesis/Mega Drive but only the first two games are on offer here, you probably already know that Sonic Mega Collection Plus/Gems Collection will give you the rest but one advantage to this compilation is that Sonic 1 can be played at 60HZ and therefore at the speed that we experienced on the original Sega Genesis. You also get the last ever Alex Kidd game and the only one to ever be released on the Genesis Alex Kidd In The Enchanted Castle and a few other respectable classics such as Golden Axe, The Ecco The Dolphin games and the cult classics that are the RPG Phantasy Star Series. You get 3 to 5 here, so it's a decent collection with some games included that even now can't be sniffed out, but if it wasn't for licensing a DVD could actually hold so many more Sega Genesis releases than the 28 here.

Very old skool!
If you ever had a mega drive and liked it then get this, its a good trip down memory lane and fun however it misses some vital games one of which being one of the best 'Streets of Rage' trilogy, gutted thats not in it or Street Fighter 2 however its still a good old skool compilation of games we never thought we'd play again!
