Natural flea treatment for cats
This is a great product. I had a flea outbreak after moving house. I don't like to use flea drops because I don't want the chemicals on my cats, and they have been tested on other animals which isn't fair. Using gloves, I apply this to the cats' fur (avoiding their faces) and sprinkle it on their bedding. With 2 applications per week, there was no trace of fleas after a few weeks. With 17 cats, it also saved me a fortune!I used it before with a bunch of feral cats who moved into my garden. I couldn't touch them to apply it for flea treatment, but I used to sprinkle it on their food to kill worms. Some of the very skinny ones fattened up after a few weeks, so I assume they had worms and this killed them.

D.E. Food Grade
After doing a lot of reseach online I ordered Diaguard D.E. as a wormer and pest control for my hens, goat and dogs, they all got a dose yesterday with no side effects today, I also dusted the hen and goat enclosers for a little extra protection. The powder is very fine, white in colour, which I believe to be of high quality, it was good value, as I bought the 5 kg drum, which is resealable. I am seriously thinking of taking D.E. myself, but I will have to do a little more reach into what dosage and for how long I should take it before I would experience any health benefits, as I suffer from Fibro Myalgia and Arthritis in my hands and feet, if anyone has any experience of using D.E.for personal use I would appreciate your input.

Good stuff
Our previous lodger moved out and left us with the joy of bed bugs, which came to light when our new lodger got ravaged during the night by the little buggers!Plenty of reading on the internet led me to the conclusion that spray based insecticides are a waste of your hard earned cash and all the claims that they offer 12 months protection are utter rubbish and marketing flannel. This stuff is a mechanical action which cuts into the oily skeletal bodies of these insects and then dehydrates them to death, as its a sharp substance to them, they will get no more immune to this than a human would get to a sharp knife!Just smother absolutely everything in the room and leave it down for a week or so to finish the pests off, it seems to of done the trick but I also threw out the hollow divan bed base as that seemed far too much of a hassle to DE and be sure about, I'm sure it was too much of a handy nesting zone, will avoid divan bed bases in future, wooden or metal frame beds are the way to go as they don't offer hiding spots for insects to make their home.I ordered this large tub to be sure as I don't do things by halves, it only costs more in the long term when you realise you didnt buy enough in the first place ! Just make sure its food grade DE which this is and then sprinkle away

Pure white food grade - exactly what I was looking for
This is the very white, powdery diatomaceous earth.I dust my pets' living areas with this and use it in water sprays to target insects. It leaves a white powdery residue that is easily washed off and also dries to its original state and can be brushed off. It scratches insects in such a way they lose all their moisture and die. Sad, I know...but then again...fly spray, ant poison etc? We all do it.This is also safe to give to animals and I eat it myself. You have to be careful not to breathe it in or get it in your eyes It's a very fine powder and can irritate, but you soon get used to shutting your eyes and holding your breath at the right times when you're applying it.To confirm...this is NOT the grey or brown type, which contains clay and makes everything muddy when you use it. That one is usually feed grade, which means it's safe for animals and useful for controlling their internal parasites, but doesn't meet all requirements that would deem it safe for humans. That said...some people are still happy to take the feed grade DE and it's actually very useful if you need to add clay to soils when growing plants that really like it.Anyway...back to the white one! This one! If you're looking for the pure, non-clay DE, this is it.

Not for me
I bought this product based on a friends recommendation that it was good for a variety of things including, insomnia, strong nails and hair and virtually ever other ailment that may be out there. TBH it tastes disgusting to digest and I found the best way to take it was mixed up with yoghurt. DH preferred to drink with water (tasted like cement). Anyway we tried for 6 months and honestly, couldn't see any improvement in anything. I bought such a big tub it would have lasted us a lifetime. Unfortunately,we discarded it. Think its probably best used for what its intended for and that is killing insects etc. Far too much hype over it being a health benefit.

Great Stuff
We use this in our cats, dogs and chickens. Brilliant stuff. We add it to their food, teaspoon a day and put a little on their coats. We also sprinkle it in the chicken coop and on their feathers and a little around the house etc. Keeps them from getting fleas, ticks and red mite (chickens). Not once in the year we have been using it has the cats or dogs got fleas or a tick and we live very rural. Lasts a long time as well.

what a mess this stuff makes
I bought this because my 2 indoor cats had somehow got fleas. i got it as a natural way to treat fleas in my house, because i have 2 large fish tanks . What a mistake, I dont doubt it works while it is down but it is like putting tons of talcum powder all over your house. it went everywhere It took me forever to hover it up and to get it off everything . it leaves like a blanket of white dust everywhere. and it is only effective while it is down. I put advantage flea treatment on my cats at the same time and it did the job no more fleas but it is not worth the hassle of looking like you have had the builders in every room.
