Wasn't quite what I was expecting, but that's not a bad thing.
Got these a couple of days ago with very quick shipping (ordered Friday night with 2-day, showed up Sunday by USPS!). Nice product, includes a zipped carrying case. There is a box on the cord that houses the amplifier and battery, as well as the Micro-USB charging port, power button, and volume buttons. I find I get the best volume range with my iPod Nano set to 50% volume. They sound pretty good, and leave a surprisingly good ability to still hear your surroundings. I wore them all day yesterday with music playing and was able to communicate effortlessly with other people, though I did pause my music when answering the phone. Yes, you can put a phone receiver to your ear without removing the headphones and hear the person on the other end just fine (which is to be expected since your ears are still open), but removing them may be necessary for longer calls since the pad does get in the road of the receiver resting completely against your ear.As for sound quality, you don't really get a lot of bass unless you crank it up (which is a weird feeling, and they do leak sound, but nowhere near as bad as my old earbuds where the music leaking was louder than what I was hearing). They don't have the low-end like my Auvio over-the-ear headphones, but I wasn't really expecting that. These are meant to provide background-like music listening, which they do extremely well and are a perfect fit for music at work. If I want to listen to my music without background noise, then I wear the Auvios. My natural reaction to loud parts of my songs is to turn them down in-case I miss hearing something around me, but even through the loud parts, I can still hear my keys clicking when typing (and my keyboard is pretty quiet). The cord is plenty long enough to reach my pocket, and the control box clips onto my shirt pocket. I gave them about an hour of charge, and so far have 8 hours of listening on this charge and the light is still flashing blue (flashes red when the battery is low).If they are too quiet for you to hear, don't forget about the volume setting on the control box. Also, you may need to play around with placement to get a good balance of comfort and volume. It works out for me that the most comfortable spot also provides the best sound (pads sitting on the flap of skin over the ear opening and the rear band tight against my head). These are comfortable and light enough that I can wear them all day.

Weird dangly-wire experience.
I bout these El Cheapo headphones because I didn't know if bone conduction phones would be right for me. I wanted the situational awareness of having uncovered ears while gaming and thought I'd give these a shot. It turns out, it's exactly what I wanted and I'll be buying a fancier set when I can't stand these anymore. The following comments are following an 8 hour stretch of initial usage. There's a couple problems with these for extended use during long fixed location gaming sessions. First of all, the wire is way too short. It's clearly intended for use mounted to a device in your hip pocket. The control box (and battery) is conveniently located for that use case, but is inconvenient and inappropriate for fixed-location use.I don't want to have to remember to charge the thing every night, so I wanted to see how it would work out if it was always plugged in to micro-usb power. First, I'd have to say... It works fine while plugged in (I didn't expect that). However, the control box is annoyingly awkward while plugged in. I attached it to my shirt, but it still had that extra wire hanging out the side pulling it in odd directions. I can't really count this against the device, since it did work this way and this clearly isn't the intended use case. If the control box could optionally be extended somehow, I could fix that to the desk and just have the one lightweight wire going up to my face. That'd be nice. The sound is a little odd. I wasn't sure what to expect. These aren't speakers filling your ear hole... and it sounds a little different. I don't think I'd want to use this to listen to music, but for games and Discord (voice chat) it was just fine. After a few hours, I hardly noticed the audio quality/tambre differences, but audiophiles would be annoyed. That said, people with very deep voices vibrated the crap out of my cheek bones. (I got used to that too. And I turned them down a little.)

+ in-line volume controls and clip make wearing them pretty convenient. Cons
First off: I would definitely buy this item again.Usage: I was looking for headphones that I could use to go running. I am not overly fond of in-ear headphones as they tend to fall out or if they loop over the ear become uncomfortable during longer runs. Furthermore, I always was a bit hesitant listening to headphones while running because you are completely cut off from the environment (when it comes to hearing at least).Pros:+ you can hear your environment and listen to music at the same time+ the sound is quite clear. no comparison to my Sennheisers that I use for commuting, but I hope nobody expects that.+ in-line volume controls and clip make wearing them pretty convenient.Cons:- no in-line music controls for smart phones- needs to be charged (not a big deal, but just one more thing you have to think about before going for your run)Comments:People wearing glasses: I wear glasses myself and I have no problems at all with comfort. In fact, out of all my headphones, I would say these go best with my glasses and don't create that painful pressure around where your ear attaches to your head. I think it depends on the thickness of your glasses though.Noise bleeding: Yes, when the volume is turned all the way up, a person next to you can hear the sound of these headphones. But I think that is to be expected from this type of technology and can be tolerated for sports...Bass: Due to the bone conductivity, having bass-heavy music takes a bit getting used to. You feel the vibration on the sides of your face...

Great product, well made and well packaged - updated 2 years on
I bought these becasue of the new IAA rules for headphones on road races.I wasn't expecting a huge amount of bass from other reviews, but I've been pleasantly surprised.I use to run with a pair of JVC in ear sport headphones, that sit just outside the ear canal to allow some road noise in, and the Aftershokz have considerably more bass, without blocking any outside noise. They do lose out to heavy traffic/ loud noises, and the clarity won't win any prizes, but they fit snugly, and allow me to keep my music pumping without putting myself in danger - especially now the nights are pulling in.Great product, well made and well packaged. Big thumbs up from me.Update @April 2019. Still going strong, but the clip on the remote control died months ago. It simply isn't robust enough, and was held on by a tiny blob of glue. In the end, I bent a paperclip and fixed it to the remote by flooding the clip cavity with PVA. It's lasted way longer than the original!

edited. worked for 3 years # cant change battery. Bad for environment
Edit. I believe the battery finally died and would not recharge. Unfortunately like most products these days its almost impossible to replace battery. This is wasteful and now i never buy any electronics without easily replacable batteries. These could and should have lasted many more years. batteries are easy to buy. Just impossible to fit without destroying\ headset. As these my first bone headphones I can't compare to others. Likewise you can't compare these to other types of headphones. I use these for computer games. It's so immersive. Hearing the real world and then something jumping out at you in the game. Other types of headphones cut you out of the real world. Listening to music is like having music player in the rioom or street.feel weird at first. Safety is a big selling point, being able to hear your surroundings and music is possible. Turning up the volume is an experience I don't like. Vibrations are so much it makes me very shivers. Sensible volume level is perfect. The power switch is to sensitive and can be turned on far to easily. These are battery operated and battery lasts many hours. The cable that goes into the headset is probably going to bea problem with regular use as it doesn't have any cable flex restraint. I have a big head and these fit me fine. They are the only headphones I have worn for eight hours plus without any pain or sweat. The most common y headphones ever. I have spent many hundreds pounds on headphones es and these beat all for comfort. Sound quality!it is good but not dj quality. I never expected that. They sound like a mid range headphone. Pleasant at mid sound volume. Loud and clear at max but give your brain. A vibration massage.

A gentle bit of kit that is kind to your ears
I ummed and ahhhed about buying these for ages as there seemed to be such mixed reviews. After making the decision to buy them I thought I would share my experience.Sound: The sound quality isn't amazing and is a lot quieter to what I normally listen to. I think the point here though is that these are designed so that you can still hear your surroundings so having them super loud would drown out surrounding sounds. I think I have actually damaged my ears from wearing my earphones too loud so having these quieter feels a lot kinder to my ears. It was also nice to be able to hear passing cyclists saying hello and then responding.Vibration: They do vibrate when you put them on full volume, it is a little tickle for your cheeks. Once I started running I didn't notice the vibration anymore.Size: They fit my head comfortably and didn't move at all.Worth Buying? Yeah, I think so, it is a bit of a treat as they are quite pricey.I am happy with them and will continue to wear them.Would I Recommend Them? Yeah, as long as you don't mind a quieter sound and a slight tickle.

Excellent for running and cycling
I got these for the Brighton Marathon, as they were the only headphones permitted under the rules. I'd never heard of them before. They're really good. I use them whilst cycling now. Because your ears aren't either covered or blocked, you can still hear traffic - even birdsong if the roads are quiet enough. The only issues I have are really picky; for some reason, I can't get Radio 4 very easily or well using these when I can with normal i-pod earphones (I have no idea why) - I don't listen to music radio so don't know if that's an issue with all radio stations. The other is that the clip is in the wrong place for me and I wish I could move it. I now clip the sound bar to my ID tag, as when it's on my collar, it's too high and I get a loop of cable hitting me in the face (very annoying). The sound buttons are tiny and you need to set the sound on your device, as the range of adjustment with the headphones isn't huge. Though if you go into a shop and need to have a conversation, it's easy to hit the button in the centre and mute it. But as I say, I really rate them. They've been out in all weathers including some really torrential rain. They're the only headphones that I've ever had that I feel comfortable with when running, as the headband keeps them in place and if the music isn't too loud you can still also speak to your running mate(s) if you have any.

Great for cycling/running
Great product, use it for running and cycling, can hear the outside world very clearly whilst also listening to music (and learning Spanish), everyone I have let have a go with them is also buying them as well. Safety first, if you really must listen to music when doing exercise outside then these provide a good experience without compromising safety. Its not audiophile quality sound by any means, but its surprisingly good and, more importantly, not exclusive to ambient noise.I do not condone or support the use of regular headphones in activities such as cycling and running when around other hazards such as cars, these are significantly safer.
