These are really tiny when you get them, and because they're so small it is difficult not to cover the air hole with your mouth when whistling so at first it seems difficult to get a noise out of it, until you realise what you're doing wrong and reposition your lips.I've come back and edited this review down from a 3 star to a 1 star, now that I've actually used them for their purpose - a children's party bag filler. Unfortunately this was a big disappointment and I saw lots of children wandering about frustratedly unable to make any noise at all with these. While an adult may after a moment be able to work out that the reason no noise is coming out is because the air hole is covered, a 5 year old cannot so easily work this out and even when you explain it to them they lack the coordination to position their lips in the very precise and undersized area they need to do so in order to get any noise out of this at all. Total waste of time.

Fun slide whistle (we used to call them Swanee Whistles) for all ages - went down well at a 70th birthday party....Worked well with the kazoos, and hilarious when playing "Swanee Kazoo".

These are not even a good party gift for kids as none of the whistles actually worked very well. i.e. they didn't whistle. What they did produce was the sound of wind blowing, (which was a happy discovery for my son who wanted them to produce sound effects for a short film as he was creating an accompanying sound narrative) So rubbish whistle but good wind effects 'instrument'.Not recommended as a children's party gift though as disappointment will result.

Tricky to get a tune out of these, so small even for little mouths.

They are cheap and work well for a bit of xmas fun.

A bit smaller than I would have expected however good enough for party bags

These whistles are smaller than I thought but just the job for a party loot bag. My daughter and her friends are all 3 years old so the size is just fine for them. I have not given them out yet so can't comment on durability but I'm sure they will be used a few times and disgarded as is the way with most party bag toys so I'm happy with my purchase.
