Would I be able to go into great detail using this?

You can create extremely detailed pieces with this clay, detail is limited only by your time, skill and imagination. I regularly create mini busts of characters using this and find it is superb, not that much difference between this and super sculpey. It shapes excellently, well worth buying a proper sculpting kit for the detail and takes paint well when baked. Be cautious in bulking it out, tin foil is good but trapped air can create bubbling when baking so try and use something solid or frame with armature and mesh!...enjoy

is this clay white or is it beige as the one in the picture is beige.x

The one in this pic is beige but you can get it on white also I only use white so I can paint it easierhope this helps (put white sculpey) into your search

To help answer your question more accurately; you may need to be more precise with your wording. Translucent does not mean transparent or see-through. This material still allows some light through whilst simultaneously its colours. Almost all the colours available (ACCEPT the very dark ones; like Black, Brown, the Deeper Blues and Darker Reds) are, up-to a certain point, translucent or opaque in VERY THINN SECTION. That is to say; about 1 to 4 millimetres thick in flat sheet sections. At these thicknesses, bright light can still pass through. This can be achieved very accurately & consistently by using flat wooden lolly-pop sticks as your thickness gauges when rolling the sheets out with a rolling-pin on either greaseproof paper or cling-film. To avoid the modelling compound from sticking; lightly dust the working surface and tools with Dry Baking Soda (commonly known as Sodium Bicarbonate) This is easily removed with a damp cloth or brush, after the baking and cooling process has been completed. I hope this will encourage you to experiment with the use of light, shade and colour.
