For the money, you can't beat it.
My partner and I bought this to speed up our workflow for architectural sketches and visualisations - his background is digital photography, mine is in traditional media fine arts. We paid for this with our own, extremely limited funds, so what follows is a very real and honest assessment of the product.Box Contents, Build Quality and Design (7/10)The Ugee 2150 pen tablet display comes very well packaged: doubled-boxed in thick, sturdy card-board. You get everything you need inside, including cables, two pens and a holder with dozens of replacement tips, a surprisingly comprehensive instruction manual and a perfectly sized screen protector (albeit you’ll need to affix this yourself). There’s no assembly necessary and you’re likely to be up-and-running within 5 minutes of this thing arriving at your door.Build quality of the display itself is excellent and the functional, but not unattractive design should fit into most environments without difficulty. It is let down by the fact that the cables connect to the bottom edge of the device, preventing it from using the full range of motion of the included stand, but on the whole we think once you’re setup and using it, you’ll forget all about this.It is possible to mount the display upside down on the stand (you’ll need 2 no. 25mm M4 machine screws to do this), but unfortunately even though it’s supported in the drivers, the pen’s accuracy takes an inexplicable nose dive. We'd love to see this addressed in a future driver update, because mounting the display this way round (whilst looking a little silly with the upside down Ugee logo) makes it very comfortable to use and completely resolves the issue of the poor cable placement. The display itself is of the glossy type, but we've had no problems at all with reflections or screen glare – an anti-spy/anti-glare screen protector is included if you need it, or if you prefer a little extra “tooth” when using the pen. You’ll already be aware that there are no express keys – clearly, if this is something that’s important to you, you’ll need to look elsewhere, although there are hardware (see XP-Pen's AC-19 Shortcut Remote) and software options which might help ease your suffering. Neither I or my partner have found it to be a problem, being used to keyboard shortcuts, so whether this is a deal breaker for you comes entirely down to personal preference. Finally, all of the included cables and accessories are of an appropriate quality, most importantly the pens – my partner would have liked them to have a little more weight, I personally think they are just right.Resolution, Colour Reproduction, Contrast and Brightness (9/10)The 21.5 inch Full HD 1920 x 1080 display yields 102.46 ppi – reasonable, but you’d need to be sat around 34 inches away for it to be considered “retina”. In reality, you’re likely to be much closer, certainly no more than arm’s length (in our use-case we’re around 14 inches away) and so you will see individual pixels. It’s noticeable, especially when sat next to the 13.3 inch QHD 2560 x 1440 display of our HP Spectre x360, but in practice you’ll be focused on what you’re working on, rather than peeking at the pixels. If you do use the display as a regular monitor (for which it seems perfectly suited, by the way) you’re likely to be sat slightly further away and the issue is even less of a concern. We don’t have tools to measure this accurately, but to our eye both colour reproduction and contrast are good – very good, in fact. There is some noticeable banding in some colour palettes which is made a little more obvious by the pixilation, but on the whole the display looks great for its intended use (and especially so at this price point).Compared again to the HP Spectre x360 (a much more expensive bit of kit, with a well regarded display) the blacks aren’t quite as deep or detailed, but we actually prefer the colours. It has a very “natural” or true to life look, not the vivid or high-contrast, overly saturated look most will have become used to. It matches very closely to our printed media.Out-of-the-box the brightness and colour temperature were perfect for our environment (a North facing room with a lot of steady, natural lighting) – obviously your mileage will vary, but we'd be very surprised if you couldn’t get this looking exactly as you wanted with a few tweaks to the settings, especially if also own a colourimeter.Ease of Use and Accuracy (8/10)Setting up the device is simple: download the drivers, plug-in the device and install. You may need to adjust your primary display’s resolution if you plan to toggle between which display the pen is active on (albeit this only applies if your primary display has a different native resolution), but a little trial and error shouldn’t take too long or put you off. This being our first such device, we’ve unfortunately nothing to compare it against, but... it all seems to work well. There’s no noticeable line wobble/jitter, the pen glides smoothly over the display, pressure sensitivity is good and in the central workspace area accuracy seems to be very good once calibrated. There is some noticeable parallax and there appears to be less accuracy around the extreme edges, but the size and resolution of the display (and fact that you can see your mouse cursor when you hover the pen over it) means you soon adapt. We’ve used the device for around 15 hours between us and I’d say we’re both getting results comparable to our artistic abilities; while the device itself won’t improve that any time soon, it has had an immediate and positive impact on our workflow. Our biggest problem now is that we only have one of them!Value for Money (10/10)We picked up the Ugee 2150 during an Amazon Lighting Deal – this saved us around 15%, but didn’t entitle us to any of the usual bundled extras or discounts. At normal retail, it’s an absolute steal, any less and you're running out of excuses. Not everyone will be able to afford one, but if you can and you’re not sure if it’s worth the extra over an non-display type variant, we'd say risk it – you’re very likely to love it.Conclusion and Overall Score (8.5/10)You get everything you need in the box and out-of-the-box the settings appear to be spot-on. The stand could be better, particularly in terms of dealing with the cables, but at this price point you’re getting amazing value for money: it’s not perfect, but it is certainly close enough! Buy one.

Ugee UG2150 21.5 Inch HD Resolution IPS Graphic Tablet
I have been a keen amateur photographer for many years starting with film, when I carried out my own processing and printing, then moving on to digital. i bought my first digital camera in 2001 and now own five.Over the years I have tried several software packages, progressing through their capabilities - and complexity. I now have Photoshop CC which I am trying to get proficient withWith whatever software I have used my biggest problem has been woking round the edge of an object, you know, selecting the object accurately. I have always found the hand/eye coordination to be a problem, getting worse lately due to my advancing years and health issues. Moving a mouse on the desk while watching its effect on a screen has seemed wrong somehow. It was like when my children were young, trying to get them to colour to the line but not over it.I tried various models of mouse, a tracker ball then progressed to a tablet and pen. The tablet helped but was still less than ideal. I really needed to be working directly on the screen.I was aware of graphic display tablets but dismissed them due to cost. While browsing on Amazon I happened upon some tablets at a much lower price so carried out a fuller search. I came across the the UGEE range so checked out the reviews. Largely, these seemed to indicate that the products were a worthwhile purchase. Further research on Youtube and I was ready to order.Which one though? The 15 inch would be a convenient size but the 19 would give a larger work area. The 19 didn’t offer HDMI input, which I felt would be best for quality so checked the 21.5.The UGEE UG2150 tablet seemed to have it all - HDMI, DVI and VGA inputs and supplied with all cables, except DVI, two pens with charge leads, spare nibs, pen holder, glove and screen cover. The UG2150 would be a bit of a squeeze on my desk but the working area would be worth it. I placed the order and included an adaptor to link the HDMI lead to the Thunderbolt port on my 27” iMac. I also found another glove supplier who carried a “Large” size - my hands have been described as “bear’s paws” and I had read that the supplied glove was a touch on the small side. The UG2150 arrived 2 days later. It was well packaged in one sturdy cardboard box inside another. Plenty of foam packing ensured that the goods arrived in good condition. The HDMI adaptor wasn’t due to arrive until the next day so, keen to get started, a quick trip to the local Maplins was required. After unpacking and checking all was present (it was) i started by removing the old tablet driver from the Mac and installing the new. This was carried out from the supplied disc followed by downloading the latest version from UGEE’s web site. I then connected the pens to USB plugs to give them a bit of charge ready for testing.Connecting the tablet was straight forward, power, USB and DVI. The cable connections at the bottom of the unit is slightly inconvenient as they will foul on the stand in some way, however they are routed. This will be most noticeable when the screen is lowered to a more flattened angle but shouldn’t cause too many problemsOK, time for switch-on. The power light came on and, after a few seconds, a message “No Signal” appeared. quick check over and I found a loose Thunderbolt connection - soon rectified and the screen lit up. I opened the Mac’s system settings and set up the “second screen” to mirror the original. The tablet display then duplicated the Mac’s. During the setup I discovered that the resolution of the Mac was lowered to that of the tablet. The UG2150 boasts a respectable resolution of 1920X1080 but I normally run the Mac at 2560X1440. I assume the Mac will not support two different resolutions so defaults to the lower. The images on both screens were still excellent. The desktop icons on the Mac were larger and software windows needed to be re-sized.The tablet set up, calibration etc., was straightforward using the software provided and the buttons mounted along the lower edge of the screen. I couldn’t quite match the image displayed on the Mac but it was very close. I left the pen switch settings as delivered, front press = double left click and rear press = right click, figuring that I would modify the settings if felt the need.OK, on with using the tablet. I opened Photoshop and found the pen system worked perfectly. Everything worked as it should. When “painting”, masks etc., i found line width varying with amount of pressure placed on the pen nib. This was useful and easy to come to terms with. Painting up to a line needs a bit of practice but it is so much easier than a mouse. I have read criticism of the parallax caused by the thickness of the tablet’s glass screen. Yes, it’s there. When viewed perpendicular to the screen, the pointer is directly under the tip of the pen. from an angle there is a perceived distance between the the pen nib and the cursor point. I have seen a maximum difference of about 2mm. I found this to be no real problem and soon got used to the difference. To anyone who feels that this is unacceptable I would say it’s far closer than a mouse and screen.I have been using the tablet for several days now and can’t find any problems with it. Accuracy of my work has increased and time spent editing a photo has dropped dramatically. The unit is well made and not unattractive. The stand is sturdy and gives a wide range of adjustment. All in all I think this is an excellent product and would recommend it unreservedly. 5 stars all day.Oh yeah. The glove fits my large hands without cutting off the blood supply and is very comfortable. Obviously it’s not that small.

Buyer beware!
I purchased the ugee as I have some really tight deadlines and needed to speed up my work flow. I wished I had not bothered. It arrived. The display turned on and was a nice size and looked good but unfortunately installing it on my macbook was a total nightmare. I wasted an entire day trying to get it to recognise the tablet. I followed all the steps on the ugee website. Ugee support were as good as useless just suggested I maje sure the cables were plugged in correctly. Which of course I had done! I asked my neighbour who is a software developer to see if he could see if he could set it up on his mac book pro but the exact same issue "tablet not found". So this leas me to believe the device was faulty. I asked if the seller would send me a replacement but their response was that there would be no point in sending a replacement as they believed there was a problem with the ugee drivers for macs and that the drivers at ugee would need to be updated. So I decided to send the device back for a refund. I have since been to the wacom website and ordered a refurbished cintiq 13hd for just £100 more than the ugee. If you have a mac I'd steer clear of this! Driver nightmare!
