Oman Map GPS (Oman (1:850.000)): reiß- und wasserfest (world mapping project)

Arrived promptly and just what I ordered. Looks like it will be very useful.

Oman mapping is generally pretty poor, this is the best we could find.It doesn't have GPS coordinates on it though, it has degrees long lat, but not well marked for any detail

Really no better than free maps you can get in Oman, lacks detail.

There were tourist maps available in Oman but this was much better than those. As others have said, there are many new roads, but this map did what we needed for our road trip

Just returned from an excellent two weeks in Oman where this map was our primary navigation tool. In general terms OK but those who have visited recently will appreciate that there is a huge amount of construction/road building going on all over the country and in that sense the map is considerably out of date. The problem is not so much "out of town" but on the approaches to urban areas and inside urban areas where old roads have disappeared new ring roads and junctions have been constructed etc. In that sense the map scale does not offer sufficient detail to get your bearings in towns and I had not appreciated that the map does not come with detailed city street maps before I bought it. This was certainly a limitation but for all that the Omani's are tremendous people and always helpful - if you can get close enough there was generally someone on hand to add the fine detail.Oman has a brilliant road network but their skills with road signs (or lack of) does not really do it justice. Signs can be a bit few and far between at times. This is not helped by the fact that for whatever reason the village/town names often do not match at all with the map names - sometimes an issue of phonetic spelling but often completely different for reasons unknown.Until its updated its barely adequate to get you around but would suggest getting hold of something that provides detailed urban/city mapping to accompany this map.
