SkyQ Wireless Booster

We moved to an old house, thick walls, bedroom miles away from our living room and couldn’t get our Sky Mini box to connect to our Sky Q.We have EERO mesh system for WiFi and that worked fine for connecting our gadgets and tv but wouldn’t link our Sky mini to the Sky Q box. I spent hours trying to connect it to no avail.I then bought this Sky booster and within 3 minutes it was connected. I guess the Sky kits talk to eachother better/for a reason. V happy

Very easy to set up and connect. What more could you want. It is also unobtrusive

We needed WiFi in our new garden office and didn’t want to pay for another subscription to Sky. This booster extended the signal from our conservatory to our garden office and we’re very happy with it. We had less luck trying to boost the signal between floors, I’m guessing it works better with line of sight rather than between walls and floors.

It's works a treat. Although you have to know you cannot put it in the place you have zero wifi reception. You have to put it in a place that has reasonable Wifi reception as it won't connect. It took several attempts to connect and work but once it did it has stayed connected ever since. My daughters room was a black spot and keeps dropping connection from her skyq mini box all the time to the main skyq box as we have thick walls so I put this in the hall outside her room. And now she has no problems at all she is thrilled as she was always using her data on her phone and didn't realise she was using data on her phone until her bill came. Now she is thrilled and can watch sky in her room giving us peace :-)Really easy to set it up. Press wps button on booster box.. Then press it on the main Sky Q box. It will then connect. Mine the first time connected, then started flashing Amber on the power button then turned red (power button) then restarted. My thought on this was that it was performing an update. As after this it was fine. I say this in case anyone starts to worry if this happens to them.Just make sure you dont put it completely in a black spot as it will not connect. My main box is downstairs (thick walls) I put booster in upstairs hall where you have wifi (2 to 3 bars out of 5 bars on wifi meter on my tablet).

The installation / setup process is simple and straightforward. The box certainly sorted out wifi signal strength issues in the zone we needed to improve. In the last few days, though, it's effectively stopped working and so will be returned. A wifi analyser downloaded to my mobile appears to confirm that there's next-to-no discernible signal even when the phone is placed next to the booster. It's an unobtrusive piece of kit and worked pretty well when it worked, but alas no more. Returned.

The product is useless. It fails to pick up the signal from the router when less than 5 metres away. It was purchased to improve the broadband signal in the house and was a complete waste of money. In addition as stipulated on the box it cannot be returned once opened though how you are supposed to establish whether it works as expected without removing the packaging and trying it out is beyond me.

I have just bought this having read the reviews and spoke with Sky was a little reserved it could do what I want. I live in a very old house where I don’t even get broadband so use 4G with EE and use Ubuquiti HD extensions throughout the house and these are unbelievable with distributing WiFi throughout the house, however due to the very thick walls and the sky q mini box was struggling to connect to the main Sky Q 2TB box even with the lounge/kitchen doors open but now having connected this in the middle hallway this is now allowing the SKY Q mini to connect even with the doors to both kitchen and lounge now closed and with perfect signal so ignore people that this only works with SKY broadband as I don’t and so far after 6 hours of use I have no issues at all. In addition very easy to setup.

The wifi in my conservatory was okay at best but in the detached garage it was non existent. AsI have just had solar panels and batteries fitted I needed a good signal in the garage so tried one of the £25 plug in ones , that didn’t make one iota of difference. I bought this Sky box and not only have full signal in the conservatory I also have full signal in the garage so very happy.
