Dog Car Guard Pet Boot Barrier Universal Adjustable

Well I tried a more expensive grid type dog car gate, and it not only didn’t fit, it was total rubbish. This ‘Dog Car Guard’ works a treat. And what a great price!It was fiddly putting it together, and there were no instructions, only assembly pictures down the side of the box. I discovered that the best way to fit it was…1.) Don’t fully assemble. First. Adjust sprung loaded uprights either side of the back of the car before putting on the cross bars! There are 4 rubber feet, look inside them. The top ones are square. The bottom ones are square too, but have four rubber lugs inside for the round end of the poles. As these uprights are sprung loaded, it makes so easy to remove the guard when not in use etc. So test the correct height of the uprights, adjust an inch or so extra (make sure they are a tight fit) before attaching the cross bars.2.) After you’ve adjusted the height of the uprights, then fully assemble. The four brackets have two different size holes in them for the two thicknesses of bars. A bit of a fiddle to put together.3.) Now you can put the guard in your car and adjust the width the cross bars, and then tighten all knobs.Hey presto... Fantastic

It is a very poor quality product that falls apart very quickly. I had to throw it away after one month of use.

Simple to set up and no issues - dogs know their place and settled in immedietly. Can understand some people complaining instruction arent clear enough (they are on the side of the box) but they are no different from a flat pack from IKEA so if you can handle them go for it, took me about 30 mins from start to installation (installation being the longest part as had to adjust the height a lot). Using it on a Nissan X Trail and having no problems. Great product and great price

My concern about this product related to the poor reviews I had read about the assembly instructions. The barely legible photocopied instruction sheet was indeed pretty poor but if you take a few minutes to look at the parts before diving in the assembly is pretty straightforward. I bought this guard for a medium sized labrador that would not stay in the boot and kept coming over the back seats. I guess most people buying the guard do so for this type of problem. Anyway I fitted the guard very snugly into the boot compartment of a Hyundai Tuscon knowing that our dog would put it to the test first time out. It did so and quite easily pushed the extendabe sides back towards the middle of the guard allowing it space to climb through onto the back seats. Second time around I simply applied some black duct tape so that the extending side were in a fixed position and would not move. With a few cable tie securing the guard to the vertical rods of the rear seat headrests it was securely fixed and the dog knows it and stays in the boot compartment. As far as I am concerned this does the trick, albeit with a little bit of DIY, and it is a good value purchase.

If you're lucky enough to have won the lottery and can afford to spend hundreds on a guard then carry on. If you're like most of the rest of us then let me recommend this one! Sturdy, easy to assemble and fit, and strong enough to keep a boisterous 7 month old Border Collie where I want him to be. As long as you keep checking it for stability periodically then you will have no problems. My only qualm would be that once assembled and fitted, the adjustable cross members are not difficult to slide up and down and a strong and inventive animal may be able to make the most of it by pushing his way through. I found a couple of well placed cable ties stopped any movement. Overall totally recommended.

our working cocker can jump through side of it so no good for us. She is very slim and agile though and can squeeze through small spaces so may suit other dogs. prompt service from seller

I havn't used the item yet but assembled it without too much trouble. However there is a problem. The rubber guards to fit onto the uprights are both of square internal section when two of them should be round. This means that they will not stay in place and I would like a air of round ones sent as soon as possible.
