Brilliant product
I have tried a hair mascara in the past to cover my grey but this product wins hands down. It is like a thick crayon. At first I just tried it on my hand and there was hardly any colour but then I read the instructions which said to wet it, it then works brilliantly. It's not messy I don't notice any smell as one reviewer said. It goes on well and quickly. The only thing I disagree with is that it comes out when you wash your hair, I find it is out by the next day but does last the whole day.I would highly recommend this product and I will certainly be buying it again but I think that will be a while off as it will last a long time I think. I would have normally recoloured my hair by now but it will last another week using this crayon.

Works well
As any woman who colours her hair knows, when you start colouring your hair, you are on a treadmill which you can't get off. My hair grows very quickly and my roots are showing quite clearly within 2 weeks. I hate this and feel it looks really tacky. But at the same time, I don't have the time to colour my hair as often as this. As a result I found this product very useful indeed. It is a thick crayon which looks a bit like a lipstick. You simply dip it in water and then apply to your roots. It covers your roots up very effectively. Your hair does feel a bit tacky but looks perfectly okay. It comes out the next time you wash your hair. One minor flaw is that when the sun was shining on my hair making it look lighter, the roots that I had touched up looked darker than the rest of my hair. In normal indoor lighting my hair and roots looked the same colour. This is just a minor fault and I am sure that no-one else would notice. I would buy this product again. Overall I found it very handy.

Good stuff!
I read the reviews on this and some were good and some bad. I don't have a lot of grey, just the bit at the side in front of my ears..I think the secret is to get it really wet, get an old toothbrush and dab it on the toothbrush. If you lift the hair away from your scalp you can get really close to your scalp without touching it and run the toothbrush down the grey bit and it covers really well without overloading it as you really don't need a lot. It's great if you don't have much grey and just want to cover up in between colouring for a quick fix. I think it would work as well on roots but I would apply it from a wet toothbrush making sure you lift the hair up away from your scalp. A little seems to go along way and keep wetting itI love it!

Thumbs down
I bought this product years ago maybe 9/10 years and it was BRILLIANT- you just dip it in a cup of very hot water let it melt a bit and it worked like a dream - the colours were great too and coverage excellent- until La Roux decided to completely change the formula abd you ended up with a waxy crayon that was TERRIBLE and they changed all the colours too - it’s awful now - and I would not buy it at all - I have changed to another similar one instead - which is like the original La Roux and mascaras don’t work as well- the only other thing that is ok too are Touch Up sprays by Liteal except you breath in chemicals

Disappointing
I wanted this to touch up the grey hair between dying it. I only have a splattering of grey, and my natural colour is dark brown. Covers ok, but not good enough. And you have to experiment with applying it, as it can be messy.

This might be brilliant but the very strong smell meant I couldn't use it
As soon as I took it out of the jiffy bag I was aware of this pungent odour which I found unpleasant. Slightly medicinal with a sweet overtone. I took the lid off thinking I'd leave it to see if the smell diminished but the smell dominated the room so I put the lid back on!I tried a very small amount on the front of my hair and it seemed to work but I just couldn't tolerate the smell. Having said that I don't like perfumed products so other people might find it great..

Top tip for amazing results.
Like others my roots show through too soon between hairdressing appointments. I have tried a few cover-up products but this is by far the best. I have found it is most effective and easiest to use immediately after washing my hair. After towel drying hair I comb my hair and flatten the parting area. I then dip the crayon in water and work away from the parting. The tapered chisel end is perfect for this and its shape has been maintained. This method is quick and effective. The product smells ok and does not feel sticky although the hair feels a bit stiffer. I bought the light shade too in case I needed to blend the colour but I was lucky the medium matched perfectly. The crayon is going to last. The colour washes out but does not budge between washes. If you need cover up buy this product.

Be careful of the color you choose
While this product is amazing I've had one chill for about 13 years but when I ordered this one the color was wrong it had a red hue which would not seem to me at all so just to be careful with this if the color was correct I highly recommend this product
