The customer service at COOAU where fantastic with me
I am writing this review based on the 1080 HD version of the camera. Very briefly the initial camera I bought had some faults with it. The customer service at COOAU where fantastic with me, they had been contacting me frequently to try and fix the problems that I had with the camera, but unfortunately at the time I was on a small holiday. Nevertheless when I got back I had no idea they had been trying to contact me. So I got back to them immediately, and they decided they would send me the 1080 HD as a replacement for the originally faulty camera. However because I never bought it, and I am writing this review for the 1080p with no way to leave a review for it, I am now leaving one here as the only means of doing so. After I got the camera, I hooked it up via ethernet initially, and then did a search for it on my router / lan. It found it immediately. I then set up my phone to find the camera whilst it was on the router (ethernet still plugged into the camera). The phone app found the camera immediately, and the really important thing here (too many people have issues connecting to the router's wifi connection to the camera) is to change the wifi settings on the phone app. It is vital to do so. Change it to the router's wifi and it will connect, then you can remove the ethernet cable from the camera and its all sorted once you hook up the camera to where you want it. I found that initially you need to experiment with the settings a bit. However after changing just a few things in the camera's image settings, the video from the camera is really 1080p (which i kind of doubted initially) the quality of image is superb and so is the video playback. Ive; owned a few bespoke cctv systems in the past, but the truth is , this took only a few minutes to set up since I knew how to get it up and working from the router's wifi from the 720p camera, and the quality of video is actually superior to what I owned previously. Not that the other cctv's systems where poor, but i can tell you personally that this camera 1080p has completely and utterly out shone all the stuff I owned before. Everything is crystal clear. I truly recommend if your still on the fence about buying this camera, you should really take the plunge and buy it, your really will not be disappointed (it is really easy to connect your camera to the router's wifi connection. 1. make sure you turn on wifi on your phone to that of your router..connect to it and stay connected for now. 2 search the lan, it will find the camera. Just pop in the password of the camera. 3 Go to the camera app on your phone and change the wifi settings to that of your router. 4 connect to the camera via the router wifi on your phone, disconnect the ethernet cable from the camera. 5 the camera will now reconnect to your phone either using normal provider data or via wifi). Install camera where you want it, then use internet explorer and go to the correct internal router address for that device. change to english, and then your sorted (to get the best picture turn on WDR, and change the fps to 25, and maximum bit rate of 6144. Then change Aemode to outdoor (dont leave it at auto, your camera is outside and its optimized to be there, the video and picture quality are impeccable once you do this, if the camera is indoors perhaps in a garage or somewhere, then you need to select indoors, again you need to change it from auto). I would definitely by again from this seller, perfect customer service, the best i have truly had. I hope I helped someone with this comment.

Very Impressed
Splendid.... My camera was so easy to install, I have been wondering for some time now how my BT dual automatic hub would respond but I had no problem. I followed the Cooau manual carefully page by page, and within 30 minutes the camera was up and running using the 2.4GHz section of my router automatically. The camera is ideal for my situation where I prefer to get a push notification rather than an email, the reason being that I have a couple of other security cameras but I find that if someone passes the camera too quickly and I need to identify them by freezing the video but this causes the restart symbol to be in the way...whereas a still photo is clearer and can be zoomed in to some extent. I have yet to install an SD card but I like the system as it is for now where I can take a still photo of the action (or see a false alarm) which is sent to my camera picture folder. Just at the moment I am having some difficulty in recording a video from the app, I have managed it a couple of times but when I try to replay I only get about a quarter of the saved clip, but most times even though the screen shows the camera as recording, I get no picture at all. I suspect that there might be some setting that I can alter when I get things figured out properly, but my phone was not an expensive model and might be struggling to cope. As I say, the system suits my needs at present - nice clear picture too. The user disk provided works well in my Toshiba laptop but for now I'm not into email notifications so I'm finding the CamHi app adequate for now. Anyone wanting an easy to set up camera system needn't be afraid of any complications in getting it to work...I'm certainly no boffin with modern technology, but if I could get the system up and running quickly, then I'm sure anyone can thanks to the easy to follow manual. 5 stars will follow when I sort out the reason for my video glitch. Hope my review helps anyone struggling to make up their mind about coping with home cctv installation....Day 3.... Fitted a 16Gb class10 SD card today. Now when the motion detection is set up I get an audible warning plus a video that I can watch to see what has caused the event. I still have no reason to connect up the email system but if I do decide to have a shot at it later on I'll update my review again. Finally I have managed to get all the systems that I am interested working for me. I now have two cameras on my laptop which is useful for home viewing with a much bigger picture than my phone screen. I have decided not to use the email function because as we all know motion alarms are subject to wind/animal/birds and often give false notifications....If I need recordings while away from home, e.g.shopping or dog walking, I find the 'Timing Record' is very useful. I set mine for ten minutes (600 seconds) which means that the cameras do a short recording every ten minutes....anyone visiting is usually caught on one of the cameras. If I stayed away overnight I would probably use the motion detection which will give an audible alert. The picture quality is good...there is a very slight hesitation (pause) while recording a moving person, probably while the camera writes to the sd card. Overall I am very happy with my setup, obviously there are much dearer models available depending on your requirement Modern technology moves along so quickly nowadays it's hard to keep up, but the support service from the company is first class, they are most keen on making sure that the customer gets all the help needed. This is so important when you get stuck..... so if you do have any difficulties don't be afraid to ask them for help. Good Luck.

Useless instructions but good service by email
I UPDATED AND UPGRADED THIS REVIEW AFTER EXCELLENT HELP FROM THE SERVICE PEOPLE BY E-MAIL.I can not believe the set up times quoted in the reviews.Connecting to Wi-fi took an evening and NOT following the instructions which are not clear.Having achieved this I now get clear pictures on phone and iPad.I bought this for the email alert system but two days on and hours on the web and with google I still have not got there. The web site which theoretically has instructions for this no longer works. The instruction manual is useless.Changing to fit an SD card I have not been able to find a screw driver which will undo the three screws to get into the camera. It is solidly built and gives a clear picture but is useless without clear instructions .I am not technically incapable and I do wonder how the other reviewers have succeeded so well where I have failed.I have emailed the manufacturers with no reply. So I eventually got contact with help by email. After several emails they sorted me out. Very helpful Ann.It is a very good product and once you know how to set up everything it is very powerful. Why does it not come with decent instructions?

Reasonable budget camera with limited functionality.
Not the best or easiest. Setup was through LAN to configure the WiFi and the huge connectors for the Ethernet are hard to hide once installed.App is clunky, and confusing to navigate. Unit itself is solid and power cable is a decent length.Camera is best suited to long range application rather than short due to its incapacity to display wide angles and no ability to zoom in or out.I think there are probably better units on the market.
