Read the reviews and bought for my twins as both asked for one for birthday but did not want to spend a fortune . Now have lots of random metal items which they think cost a fortune .. Works brilliantly and easy to use and great price

So, after buying a more expensive metal detector I have decided to rewrite my review. The detector listed here isn't that great but it will give you a taste of metal detecting and after realising this one isn't that great made me go out and buy a better one. It will be fine for the kids to have a go in the back garden but it's not for serious searching. Also do not pay more than £20 for it. It can be had for less.Ok, the other reviews for this product are a rather mixed bag. I think the main thing to remember is that this is less than £20. I certainly would not expect the plastic to be of a high quality and maybe the build not to be great. Yes the plastic is a bit naff but the build is OK. I have adjusted the sensitivity and whilst metal detecting in the garden today I have found a really old padlock, many bits of metal, an uncovered manhole covers and many others. It probably isn't going to be the best metal detector in the world but for the price it is a good way to discover if you are going to enjoy using something a little more expensive.

My 11year old son bought this with some of his Christmas money. It's a good size for him, works extremely well and he's had hours of fun with it.We looked and researched a few and this was definitely the right decision for starting out.

This is a great product when it works! First trip out with my 4 year old ended in disappointment when it decided to stop working. Worked at home before heading out. Intermittent then dead once we got to our destination. Back home i found the rotary on off switch to be the problem so I temporarily shorted out and just install the battery when we use it. With sensitivity adjustment quickly sorted my son was amazed when we found a pound coin within minutes! Actually a good product aside from the switch issue. Maybe i got a bad one.

worked fine once i had worked out how the handle fitted together..grandchildren had a lovely time at the thameside at low tide ,found a couple of old victorian coins....great joy ..

Very handy metal detector for kids! Easy to use and assembly, lightweight as well so kids wont struggle! Lots of fun with this toy, as kids well prepared to dig some treasure! Wont get to deep, but atleast half a metre would beep for some metal! Thanks! We enjoyed!

Bought two of these for my sons for Christmas. Was so disappointed firstly with the quality as really cheap plastic but also with the devices ability to actually pick up anything. I even put a load of coins on the sand and it still didn't even detect them let alone anything under the ground.My advice is to invest a little more money and get something that will actually work.

I Hide a pair of scissors under a piece of paper for my daughter to detect. It couldn't even detect them. There is an adjustment however . Its either super sensitive and goes off all the time or detects nothing.... as I bought in October cant refund … Worthless junk ...
