Bully in Sight: How to predict, resist, challenge and combat workplace bullying - Overcoming the silence and denial by which abuse thrives

Having just raised a grievance at work against my female bullying manager who caused me to have a severe mental breakdown, nearly committing suicide, I was desperate to find a book which helped me articulate what I'm going through. This book does exactly that; I have highlighted everything I am experiencing on each page and am going to submit it with my written complaint so the reviewing managers can see my experience described in a recognised textbook. It's also clear that I need legal advice right now because most companies are unlikely to take any action against a bully, despite the evidence. But why would I, or anyone else, with a previously fantastic work record, even contemplate raising something so serious unless it was true? This book articulates the whole experience incredibly well, helping you to accept that this is highly prevalent and that you are not losing the plot, as well as helping in taking action. You won't regret buying it!

This book quite possibly saved my life. Bullying in children is horrendous, but when it happens to us as adults, there are many other factors that come into play. Bottom line, this book guided me so well, so that I found the strength to make a formal complaint against the known, and serial bully. The other thing that kept me sane was believing totally in karma...nice one☝️

I bought this book years ago, long before customer book reviews were popular hence my late contribution. I came across the title again while browsing for something else and thought I would add a review because this book was so important to me. I bought this book when I was being bullied at work. This is relevant because this book helped me to understand how the situation could get so out of hand that it became a formal situation and why I was so powerless. The book also helped me to understand how the bully works. I still blame myself for the situation but because of this book I know it is because bullies create the situation in which you will blame yourself. The book is also important because it doesn't just deal with overt aggression but also the quiet insidious truly dangerous bullying and institutional bullying. For me the book made everything much clearer. I passed this book on to someone else who found themselves in a bullying relationship. The book is gentle in tone and not at all sensational. In fact I am going to buy it again because my friend passed the book on again and I did not get it back.

I bought this signed book directly off Tim Fields web site in Aug.'03. To say this book changed my life around would be an understatement. This is THE Bible of Bullying. Make no mistake! I first came across Andrea Adams book - Bullying at Work, following accidently catching the tail end of a BBC programme on the subject. The misty hell started to clear. I beat my bully at work...eventually. And he knew it! Very satisfying! Didn't take him or my bosses to court. For my particular situation it would have been too late & a waste of time. It is truly amazing to watch a bully crumble into a pile of jibbering red faced sweaty confusion when you don't react nor behave the way they expect you to! This book by Tim did it for me. It gives you the inside knowledge, both of you and your bully. Ever heard the phrase.... 'Know thyself....etc'? Well...Tim shows you how to 'Know thine enemy' too! Best of all, once you get to understand what's going on and become aware, you can help other people. Since I bought Tims masterpiece, my book has been out on loan to various people who subsequently bought their own copies! I overheard two blokes talking in a doctors waiting room about the bullying that was going on in their workplace. After I introduced myself I spoke of Tim's book and gave them Tim's website. You should have seen the look of relief on their faces! Satisfying or what! JUST GET IT! BTW....I've just bought my 2nd copy today through Amazon. Thanks!

Being bullied is one of the nastiest things to have to put up with, sadly this is quite common nowadays....it used to be children having to put up with it but now it goes into offices, any environment where a dominant person with their own problems can de-moralise and mess up someone else, usually the most easy going, sensitive and caring person - as the book states too and it is true.I did think whether to buy this book or not as to the price, not my usual bargain book purchase but due to the massive impact bullying had on me, went for it and very glad I did. At least you read about it and know there are others out there experiencing what you do, gives tips on how to respond or not to. Sincerest thoughts to fellow victims....the phrase sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me...sorry but this is simply not true, words do hurt and a lot!

This book has been a lifesaver, it gives you the knowledge and information you need to take back control of how you are treated, it also gives insight on how a bully works so that you actually find their actions amusing rather than threatening, it also helps to identify your bully when they are using others as a smokescreen, important as you are then able to counteract the game they play. predicting the stages they will go through and knowing what this means makes you realise that when things get really bad they are actually getting better as the bully is the one feeling threatened through losing the control they have gained over you and others. A must have for anyone who thinks they are being bullied. I am facing up to and beating my bully thanks to this book

Excellent from start to finish. Have so much respect for the author and this increadibly useful, practical and empowering text. To most reasonable people there is no place in any society for bullies. This book helps you stand up to bullys effectively and outlines the many underhand ways and things bullies do to try to eliminate people who threaten their very existence.
