Excellent
Roland have developed this idea very productively. Years ago I had an SPD-11: this is so much more flexible and usable.Crucially, the pads are excellent. The RH control panel is powerful and intuitive with some great features (i.e. the ability to copy settings on a pad-by-pad basis from existing kits into a new kit). There is real-time control of many parameters. The sounds are generic Roland fare - not really my cup of tea but professional sounding with convincing layering and decent effects. The phrase looping function would be great for live use and is very straightforward to use.Unless you absolutely MUST have multiple outputs there's very little to find fault with.
