Can it be plugged in behing tv unit

No, it shouldn't be covered or placed in confined spaces. You also have to make sure to leave min. 50 cm clear above the diffuser. Your Febreze Team

I have 2 of these units but on both the three bottles get used up very unevenly - one is empty, one is full and one is half used. Does that matter?

I agree they empty very quickly and unevenly Either sort this out. Or .maybe add a spare empty bottle

I have 1 Green & 1purple what scent are they & do all fit all machines providing they are 3s. How many scents ?

Green is pine and purple lavender or orchid, unscrew the cap and have a sniff to discern the fragrance. No they only fit in the 3volution plug anything else may not be safe to use. There's 3 scents on each refill and the plug cycles through them regularly so you don't get used to one and stop noticing it.
