excellent 5/5
my daughter got me onto this item..this is perfect. it does exactly as it should (although I haven't used it for wet spills yet) I make a lot of craft items needing feathers and before I used to have to go downstairs and lump the hoover up. this sucks up even the smallest of feathers. it picks up the tiny beads I drop and also glitter.. the only tiny moan is that the rubber part at the front which is removable falls off sometimes and it also wears quite quickly but that might be because I use it so much... recommended for someone with a little person who likes to play with glitter.... atwickwitch

It certainly does suck..
Straight into the top three most useless pieces of equipment I have ever bought. The fact that this is even described as a vacuum cleaner, could probably give you legitimate comeback under the trade descriptions act. What this is, is the cutting edge of pointless whirling blue things with handles. Remember in the young ones, when Neil, having had his head smashed through the ceiling decides to hoover the messy carpet by inhaling through his mouth? Well even that 80s hippy vacuum is more effective than this (and also makes a pretty decent lentil casserole) .So I was in no illusions about needing to hover an entire house with the thing, or tackle pet hair and whatever, but I needed this in a spare room to quickly hoover up the shower of cat litter my feline friend inevitably leaves behind when exiting his litter box with the acceleration of a barely legal supercar. I thought it would be perfect for the job, but to my astonishment the thing is so un-utterably rubbish, that it can't pick up ONE solitary piece of tiny clay cat litter (unsoiled). That's correct. ONE bit. What it does do, is push it around, ping it another few feet so you can chase it, run it over twenty times in seven different directions and STILL find it's there. You can even stick the end nozzle over it, hold the thing down at a right angle for 10 seconds, pray to the gods of suck, lift it off and STILL see the bit of litter staring back up at you, and taunting you and your pointless £25 whirring plastic handle. And in the end, you basically have to pick the bits of litter up and PUT them into the end of the hoover, essentially reducing it little more than a blue and white space age bin.I've no idea how much a 1.5mm square piece of cat litter weighs, or the degree of suction required to vacuum it off a hard floor because I spent most of my physics lessons attempting to flirt with Sarah Edwards, but to think it would be too much of a match for the combined years of technical and mechanical experience at Black and Decker was beyond even my wildest imagination. I can only assume from the pictures that accompany the promotional material (or as i prefer to call them, 'flights of fancy') that this vacuum is specifically designed to suck rice crispies. I never tried this myself, so I can't comment, (I eat granola, and so chances of this thing successfully ingesting a nut, when it can't manage a grain of litter is remote) but as they are about 90 percent air, there's a fair chance it may be perfect for the job. In the meantime though, if you're not overrun with repeated daily rice crispy spillage, I'd seriously advise you get something else. Something that actually vacuums would be a really good start.

Not heavy duty but perfect for cleaning up small amounts of waste
Before purchasing the Black & Decker Wet and Dry Dustbuster I was concerned that many of the reviews considered it to be under powered. I was after something to use in the kitchen to pick up mainly dry crumbs off the kitchen worktop and from the floor. For that sort of use I can confirm that it has proved to be ideal and not under powered. There are more powerful models available so if you want something to clean out a vehicle for example maybe a more powerful unit would be required but as a general kitchen aid to manage the small spillage the 4.8 Volt would appear perfectly acceptable.I haven't needed to clean up any liquids yet, and probably wouldn't bother but it is useful to know that it should be okay to do so, I would probably only use it to clean up water as I can imagine anything sticky would cause more problems than it solves. There are a few niggles, one that it is designed to be wall mounted so could prove limiting to some people, especially if there is not a convenient power point close to a convenient position on the wall. The power cable that is provided is not particularly long and could not be easily extended. in my case neither of these were a problem. I did come across a similar model that has a freestanding stand that can be placed on a worktop counter.Another niggle is the rubber adapter that is required for liquids, but is not required for dry waste, it would be useful if there was somewhere on the unit or the wall bracket that could be used to store the rubber adapter when not required. In the absence of anywhere to store the adapter I have resorted to leaving the rubber adapter in the unit and just take it off for dry waste. After I purchased the item I did see it elsewhere for considerably less, but can't fault the prompt delivery I received.

Its Okay
I bought this to tidy up around a woodburner, not clean it but just pick up stray bits of sawdust etc. Its not very powerful, suction not great but what I would expect from the voltage of the item so possibly my mistake in assuming it would work for this purpose, the filter needs a good clean regularly as it is only small, this is easy to do and great that its washable. Its okay and it might get used a bit more overy christmas for stray crumbs etc but I suspect it will become a back of the cupboard item after this. Would say if it were used for cleaning up under a high chair, spilt crumbs or other light jobs it would be good for this. I havent used this for wet spillage so not sure if it would work well for this.

Just about 5 stars
I could be tempted to give it 4 stars because the info says it has tools with it and it doesn't, but I think thats down to Amazons description maybe. There are no extra tools, what you see is what you get, forget the extras. On the first charge it didn't last long but had great suction, I was so disappointed as my old dustbuster did better. 2nd charge fixed the problem so now am satisfied. It's a good little number with better suction than my old 3 point something volt. Gets the dust, fluff and little bits up. Arrived quickly as well. For the price I paid I think I did well. Also a mention about the holder. Slips on and off dead easier than my old one. The old one was awful to get on and off.
