Amp2

This is one of the best things I have ever bought off of amazon. I wasn't expecting much from it at first. It was after all just 45 dollars and small enough to fit snugly on top of a pi 3b. Just expected it to be a cute toy to tinker with for awhile and then pass it on to someone else or store it in a drawer. I was very wrong.This little amp sounds great! I would not consider myself an audiophile by any means but I think I know what sounds better than what most people are used to now a days, and this thing is by far, one of them.I installed it on a raspberry 3b+ running with volumio. Setup was quick and simple if you have a bit of tinkering experience. At first I hooked it up to a pair of micca covo s. These are tiny cube speaker with relatively low efficiency (85 db) , but it made them sound quite good. I had them in my room for night listening on my bed and they were plenty good for me. Things however went from good to great when I found some vintage (1976) Akai sw-157II in a storage room in my parents house. These were my dads speakers after graduating college. One seemed in good condition but the other had a hole in its woofer probably from mice. I took them home out of curiosity and hooked them to the amp2. I was left wide mouthed. This little amp2 was absolutely rocking these big speakers. They were loud, almost painfully loud at 90% volume in my room. The highs were crisp and clear but not harsh at all, the bass was tight and punchy, I could feel it in my chest. I was incredibly excited. The sound was clear and defined, somewhat warm, very pleasant and non fatiguing, something I wasn't expecting at all.I was planning on returning these big outdated speaker to my parents after cleaning them and testing that they worked, but its been more than half a year now and I dont think they are leaving my bedroom any time soon. I use this setup almost daily, it has plenty of power to spare. On one of his visits, the old man was very impressed by how his old speakers were sounding. He couldn't believe that much sound was coming from this little amp.The picture shows the akais by the little micca cubes and the amp2 in the center.Definitely recommended.

I can’t suggest this product enough. I’ve tried those cheapo amps that you can buy from China and even they pad problems with my 4Ohm speakers. This thing outputs loud and clear sound. I had the dial the volume back in my pi after installing this because the other amps just couldn’t do it.Make sure you know the ratings on the speakers that you will be using, because you may been a more stronger power supply. Make sure you read the details of this item so that you buy the correct power brick. The 18v worked great for me, and I didn’t need to give the pi any additional power through usb.

I stream music to a Pi Zero W over WiFi via a Logitech Media Server.The manufacturer recommends using a Pi 3 or Pi 4 but I find it works fine with a Pi Zero W; though I run it without video and only stream music, no videos, through it so that is less demanding.I replaced a DAC that was would sometimes crackle and pop between songs. This HifiBerry is completely noisefree. The builtin amp has plenty of power for a pair of small bookshelf speakers.I use Squeezelite and it can sync with a Logitech Squeezebox, so when I change music on the Squeezebox it also changes on the Pi, an unexpected bonus.

This thing can really output and it wasn't really hard to set up with my Pi 3. I bought a pair of Micca MB42 bookshelf speakers with this to expand my multiroom sound setup. At first I thought the HiFiBerry was crap because of the poor quality of sound that I was getting out of the Micca speakers, but after hooking up the Amp2 to my primary speakers, I was so relieved at how awesome the sound quality was. It was about 90 or 95% the quality and about 70% the output of my main receiver, but that is still damn loud and great sounding.

I’ve only tried it with some 8ohm bookshelf speakers and it sounded great though I can’t judge the bass: the speakers didn’t have much bass on the previous amp either. No worries because I have a separate DAC+ connected to a powered sub. So the Amp2 drives the mains and they sound lovely, while the DAC drives the bass. It may be that if I had good bass speakers that the Amp2 would drive those too but I don’t have the ability to test that.I have four HiFi Berries of various types in the house now. Two of them are the digital variety driving Meridian speakers and of course all they need is a clean digital signal and they’re perfect.The HiFi Berry Pi build is perfect. AirPlay works. Roon works. A $150 box behaves far better than all the crazy expensive WiFi speakers and WiFi amps I’ve tried. The Amp2 allows you to use any speakers you like.

Assembled a nice LMS streamer using this integrated DAC/amp, RasPi 4, and piCorePlayer. Very little drama during assembly, outside of the case that I used. AMP2 board is now driving 4 speakers through a Monoprice MSV-2 switch. An old laptop 18.75 volt power supply to juice the AMP2 & Pi 4.I was able to use the cheapish InnoMaker acrylic case with the AMP2 board, however I had to widen a slot about 1.5mm with a Dremel & file to get access to the speaker screw terminals.I wishfully believe this sounds better than my previous Geekworm X400 v3 amp board.

This has got to be one of the most disappointing buys I've made. When it worked, it sounded pretty good, but it blew up after a month. When I say blew up, I mean it literally smoked.And I have to say it was nothing from my end.When I reached the manufacturer for support, they only honor their warranty if you bought it directly from them.So, in the end, do not buy this.
