This book demands BLOOD
About what I was expecting. A bit of information on a ton of the darker deities, realms, and practices in the Pathfinder universe. It's quite fun to flip through and read in into the juicy details of the often neglected evil paths, and though it does have a huge range of chapters and topics (from deities, arch devils and demons, evil realms, maps, a small bestiary, new magic items, minor and major artifacts, domains and prestige classes, and most notably to me, a section of the book dedicated to the major artifact 'the Book of the Dead' that looks like it was a manuscript pulled straight out of Sanctuary from the early Diablo games), actually stitching together all of the information into a usable tool in a campaign or playable character seems like a rough task since, in all likelihood, you'll be using a VERY small section of this book to augment your Pathfinder experience in any given setting or campaign.Overall, I love it, though I abnormally tend to enjoy the darker side of dark fantasy. It could be a somewhat helpful tool for any GM, but aside from the off occasion of playing an evil character or building an NPC a bit deeper or short of throwing the party into a hellish planes for a TPK, this is definitely not a contender for a necessary book in a GMs library. Also, I can't seem to pick this book up without it resulting in me bleeding somehow! The weirdest thing...the evil is strong with this one.

Vileness aplenty
This book offers about what you would expect. It contains a plethora of information about demons, devils, daemons, quipploth and the god cast level creatures. It would be best to say that it is a bit of a reprint from previous material. Specifically the three small paper back books. They did make some changes, unfortunately demon grafts were removed and the diabolist prestige class has been tweaked. The artwork is spot on and I really loved the pictures from the end. Excerpts from the "real" book of the damnned. As to be expected, the book offers all assortments of vile, despicable, evil. This type of content is for mature gamers. Your talking about taboo and offensive subjects like rape, torture, murder etc. When you're talking about beings whose reason for existence is based on the fact that they are evil beyond measure. you have to expect you could find things that offend you as a player\person. I find some of the content to be utterly repulsive. But that is the point of the book; to showcase these debased creatures and give GM's a tool to understand what and why they are like. Piazo is good at being politically correct and friendly to gamers of all lifestyles. This book offers insight into the darker side of things. In regards to the one star review for being angry about content.. do you shop at a store and get offended that they offer products to things you don't like?

Good Collection of Material
This is a great resource for anyone looking to incorporate fiends of all kinds into their game or even taking the fight directly to them. There is a wealth of info here on demon lords in particular that people might be unfamiliar with, especially if you don't own the previously released three volume paperback set from which this is largely taken. The artwork is generally good, though I wasn't crazy about the supposed pages from the Book of the Damned at the end. They seemed too campaign specific and were kind of boring to read. But if you like devils, demons daemons (yeah, not yuguloths), demodands, and the like, pick this up. I should add that I don't even play Pathfinder. I revamp the monsters for a house ruled combo of D&D and Castles & Crusades. But I have all the Pathfinder bestiaries for the variety of monsters.

A worthy compilation.
This basically compiles together the paper back copies of the book of the damned into hard cover volume. It also features a bit of new content including lore, monsters, and pictures. Unfortunately I can't say I'm overly fond of some of the new pictures. The new picture used for Charon is a particular let down compared to the image used in the paper back volume and 6th bestiary. (See image. first being from this book) But those are hardly deal breakers. The only reason to not get this book would be if you already have the paper backs.

Great Resource of Villainy
I expected this to be the PF version of the Book of Vile Darkness, and I wasn't wrong!I would have given this boom 5 stars if it had more than 3 prestige classes and had some archetypes for classes. The only other complaint I have would be the lack of some key arch fiends/demon princes (Grazzt and Demogorgon in particuliar) Having everything in one tome would have been great.Great resource for DM's who feature a lot of fiends in their campaign

The GREATEST of all fiend folio books...with an MA rating!
Being a fan of the old PLANESCAPE series, I can say that the PATHFINDER series of extraplanar books is far better. Their artwork is terrific, and so is the mythos. But this book is NOT FOR THE SQUEAMISH OR EASILY TRIGGERED! It has descriptions of very violent activities. After all its the denizens of hell! No one with a functioning mind would actually do any of the obeisances in this book, but someone unbalanced might be upset by it. So just be aware.

Get it if you have never purchased a boom on the 3 main evil armies of the planes before.
Book wasnt the usual twists and turns on the creatures involved in the bloodwar who love human souls, sin and corruption. ..not her o haven't seen in d&d or other pathfinder books before

I like the fact that I got what I wanted and described and had no hassles. What was sent was what was pictured and it goes without saying how happy I am to get something properly advertised and described.

The PDF is fine, on content I would give the material 4
Mine had printing issues. I had the first 32 pages, then a Chinese printing divider then the first 32pages again, missing 33-65.The PDF is fine, on content I would give the material 4.5 stars. But I have now had several hard backs from Paizo where there has been massive problems with printing or the spine of the book. Im not happy

It is ok but thats the best i can say about it.
So a major issue with this book is utility. The book itself is full of lore nearly 180 pages of lore in a 260 page book which is fine but in terms of utlity my issue is this. How many times will the party ever need to know the back story of the lords of hell? There are also only 3 prestige classes offered in this book so not really much. Some additional spells or monsters or magic items or feats make up the rest of the pages. Not a bad book and what is there is interesting but by no means would i say this is a book needed by anyone.
