Beautiful lab created opal engagement ring with a purple amethyst set in the center. This sterling silver ring is inlaid with 3 pieces of laboratory grown opal in each side of the ring. The amethyst in the center is great quality and weighs .75 carats. The amethyst is set almost flush so the ring has a fairly low profile. The lab created opal fires red, orange, purple, green and blue and harmonizes nicely with the purple amethyst. Special care was taken to cut the lab opal to mimic the more random fire of natural opal. Lab created opal has the same chemical composition as natural opal with the exception that the water found in natural opal is replaced with resin in lab created opal. The resin gives the lab created opal more strength and durability and makes the lab opal less susceptible to cracking and breaking than natural opal. This ring is 6.2mm wide at the top of the ring and tapers down to 4mm at the bottom. It is stamped .925 sterling and hand signed MMH (Mark McBride Hileman) on the inside of the ring. The ring is shown in a size 7 1/2 for scale and will be made to order in your ring size in 4 to 6 weeks.
