This is THE Pedal Switch
Currently connected to the back of a Boss Gigcaster, this controls the different virtual effects banks for the Gigcaster 5 and Gigcaster 8. This ex version has the colored lights so it’s easy to see which effects bank you are in when switching around. If you connect a second one of these pedals to the back of the master pedal, you don’t need to switch to the second effects bank. The second pedal acts as the extended effects bank. Overall this is super functional, as I have access to tons of different effects, instead of using a messy and noisy pedalboard. Again, what I’m talking about applies to the Boss Gigcaster 5 and the Boss Gigcaster 8. I have not tried this on the Boss Katana. The pedal switch does come with a cable. Although you may want to purchase a longer cable if you intend to use this anywhere other than at the base of where your Gigcaster or amp is sitting. Very solidly constructed pedal. Like most Boss items, I expect this will always work if it is not smashed around, if the pedal goes through that kind of thing often. I would recommend getting a second, (or third and fourth) for traveling around if you are a touring musician. That way you are not bashing up your studio foot pedals. If you are planning on running your main effects through this, you will probably want your studio pedals working reliably. Without question. All metal pedal construction though, so the pedal should be able to take a normal level of abuse and keep working, if you needed it to.

Best controller for Katana
This is the best foot controller for the Katana. I tried the Airstep because of it having wireless connectivity, but there was a slight delay when switching, and the Airstep also has a battery to charge. This Boss pedal may not have wireless, but there's no switching delay and no battery to worry about going dead at gigs.

Must have for Katana owners
This pedal is a must have for those with a Boss Katana amp. Boss makes it very difficult to use any other foot pedal. It's a good pedal. Expensive, but good.

fantastic addition to the katana
Must have for a Katana or Acoustic amp owner. Being able to swap patches during a song allow me to styles of music i otherwise couldn't. as a metalcore player, going from a clean to a distortion patch or a lead patch seemlessly is great. worth the extra money owning one of these

This foot controller is absolutely necessary
It you are using a Boss Katana Artist amp, this foot switch is absolutely necessary to you performance rig. Solid and well built. I also would highly recommend the Katana librarian app.

Necessary for Boss Katana amps
I love this foot-switch set up and it’s easy to use, once you get used to it. The instructions aren’t great, but there are plenty of YouTube videos to help. It does require a connection to the Boss Studio software, which needs to dowloaded to a PC and connected to the amp, and again there are lots of video tutorials to help. Once that’s done you have 8 channels to play with and a variety of effects at your feet. The biggest plus point, for me, is that this makes a lot of my pedals redundant and means I’m less likely to need more pedals. You can find plenty of tone patches to download for free, or figure out your own and set them into one of the 8 foot-switch channels. The only gripe I have is that this should come with the amp as it’s pretty much essential.

Should be a 5
I gave a 4 star rating because there are no useful instructions from Boss… functionality, build quality are great.

It works just as it’s supposed to. Great for switching between multiple patches in the Katana. I think it can switch between 9 different channels/patches. It did not cast a magic spell and make me good on guitar however, I wasn’t expecting it to do that. But would have been a nice surprise!

If you own a Katana and this is compatible then what are you waiting for? BOSS build quality and works like a charm. No need to ask questions, this is the dogs danglies.
