I Loved Leeva!
Just loved it. Read it myself at the same time as reading Matilda to my son, only to discover that there are definite Matilda vibes in Leeva's story. 'Heartwarming' sounds a bit sappy, but it really is a book full of joy, friendship, and discovery, written in a quirky warm style that made me look forward to the next time I could pick it up and read it. And who doesn't love a bonus badger!

Just lovely
Leeva at Last is a totally heart-warming story with strong Matilda vibes. It is the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon and even better it has the answer to the question “What are people for?” I would add an extra reason - for writing books like this one, full of quirky characters and enough whimsical humour to leave you smiling for the rest of the day. Also a celebration of libraries and who can resist that!

Great book for kids but even more for adults
This is a wonderful feast of a book for anyone who ever felt unloved and invisible. It will make you smile and feel grateful for all the small and not so small good things in life. Better than coffee and a donut!

Badly written
I feel the premise of the story is not great. The child living with highly controlling parents. For a good enough part of the book, they are controlling. My child was rebellious to many rules made around the house seeing that as part of having controlling parents.I genuinely felt the author lacked the sensibility of what it means for a 10 year old to read this. The lack of adventure in the book cant substitute for the lack of a good premise about home environment

Loved this book!
Everything about this story, from the characters to the message to the illustrations, made me happy. Perfection!

Lesbian old couple?
At one point in the book the main character visits an old couple who have a ton of cats. Their children have grown up and moved away so now they have cats to care for in place of children. Then you turn the page and there is an illustration and it is two elderly ladies. My kids were confused. We all looked and read it over and over again. It seemed subtle and strange. We like the book but this subtle employment of an illustration in a children’s book does not support our families traditional values. It felt sneaky and confusing.
