Royal Folding Backpack Sluice Box

Trying to get all your gear down to the river where the gold is, is a PITA. This sluice box is a well constructed product that will fit into a standard sized backpack or five-gallon plastic bucket with ease for easy transportation to the river. And once you get to the river, will easily open into a full size sluice box. In short, it's a wide, long, light, compact, well constructed sluice box that fits into either a backpack or bucket. What's not to like? I've seen straight sluice boxes for $135.00+ and they don't fold up. And because they don't fold up, they lack the compact convenience this folding unit brings to the river. Once unfolded and the screws are tightened down, this folding sluice box provides an excellent platform for the purpose of separating out classified material that you worked so hard digging out from under a bolder. Kudos for the wingnut suggestion in one of the prior reviews; mine is without wingnuts. Happy prospecting. :)

This is a fantastic sluice. Long enough to recover the fines, portable enough to pack in for miles. I have found that it will fit in my backpack along with all my other bits and bobs after a bit of reshuffling. When I get to a good prospect, out it comes. Setup is literally 1, 2, 3 (and 4). Open it up (self locking), attach the flair (wing nuts), put it in the water (comes with a one page how-to if you need it) and start moving dirt. Cleanup is just about the same as another modern sluice. Remove the frame with the riffles (one wing nut for each -- there are 2), pull out the expanded metals and carpets and clean in a bucket. Nothing difficult, even I can use it. Very worth the price.

Item was scratched up prior to delivery. One of the folding components was misaligned and it took some adjusting and physical force to fully open up the product. Also the unlocking mechanisms require a bit of force from a solid object, like a screw driver to unlock and refold the unit. -These discrepancies should have been checked by the manufacturer's quality control. Aside from that, the unit is a wonderful tool, and the portability of its folding components allows it to fit in a backpack with the rest of panning equipment and is easy to transport. The materials within the unit seem to be of sturdy and good quality and work well and with much ease in the running stream. ***I strongly recommend also purchasing the "Recirculating Head" kit, which is great for working in areas where a strong stream of water is not available.

BUYER BEWARE!!! Seller does not give refunds when this product breaks, and it will break! There were a few issues with this item. For one, the different parts that come together result in a sluice that isn't very sturdy. The center tends to droop a bit if there's any pressure on it, so you're set up to automatically lose gold while sluicing. The different parts also create creases that are harborage areas for all the material you're running- I got all kinds of material stuck everywhere it shouldn't get stuck. This made it hard to maneuver the sluice box, and created a waving effect as material went down the sluice. This also made the sluice unlock from the locking tabs, and it collapsed on me 3 or 4 times. The main issue with this item is that it broke within one hour of use. When you unfold the sluice, there are small metal locking tabs that the other part of the sluice are pressed onto, and it locks the sluice into it's full position. One of the tabs snapped off within an hour of using this product, rendering it useless. It can no longer stay unfolded. I contacted the seller for a refund, and they basically told me it's not their problem- I need to contact the manufacturer. The first picture below is what the locking tab should look like. The second is what mine looks like after initial use. I've seen other buyers have the exact same problem soon after purchasing, and none of them were able to get refunds either. I wish I would've paid more attention to the reviews before purchasing this product. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, YOU WILL WASTE $150!!!

It's a nice box. It DOES NOT come with minors moss. One review I read said it did. Mine came with green ribbed carpet. Also if your looking for future add-on stuff you may want to research this first. You may be able to mix and match other brands, but as far as adding a header to this 9" wide box I couldn't find one offered by the manufacturer.

is FAR more burdensome in almost every sense than non-folding sluices: lots of time wasted setting up/down every use, extra pieces to worry about, way more flimsy than expected(broke the locking mechanism first weekend on river) . I'm now made aware from others it's prone to warping at the fold up spots and leaving huge gaps for gold to escape. DO NOT BUY! NO REFUNDS
