Works right out of the box (Crate)
So, the wait was long and the tracking didn't work. The seller should do a better job of communicating. All that said the wait was worth while. I was pleasantly surprised to find the mower ready to go right out of the crate. The battery was charged and after checking fluids and adding gas and also checking all the obvious nuts and bolts for tightness. It started right up and so far so good. I am pleased with it's ability to work on slopes which is why I purchased this mower. 2 tanks of fuel through so far and I am very pleased.

Not as much a mower as a DIY mowing kit w/o instructions
The first thing I noticed when the unit was still in the crate was that the shroud protecting the alternator was not designed for the engine. Part of the shroud was jammed into the gas cap so that it couldn't be removed (yellow arrow). So I had to loosen the shroud, then remove the cap and cut away the offending corner of the shroud (second photo, yellow arrow). Upon removing the mower from its crate, I discovered that the engine is only a recoil start, not an electric start which you'd expect on a mower at this price and which has a 12 volt electrical system. DDM claims it isn't advertised to have electric start but the write up on Amazon directs you to the daredevilmower.com site for further information and there's a video showing how to start your DDM-55 mower. And it uses an electric starter. DDM claims that mower has a Loncin engine whereas the one they sell uses Kohler. Nowhere in the video is that mentioned or shown. So I assumed that my DDM-55 mower would start like the one in the video. WRONG!Worse, the Kohler engine cannot even accept a starter so it isn't upgradable at all. At eighty years old, I was trying to ease my mowing chores and that doesn't include yanking on a starter rope. Before I had even received my mower, I received a call from DDM claiming that Amazon shipping required them to remove the cutting height actuators prior to shipping. (the battery is also shipped separately). So I contacted DDM and I now have two actuators and two controllers, but absolutely No instructions as to how they are to be installed. Not even a circuit diagram. And the user manual is on-line only and pure Chinglesh. English words that must mean something to somebody, but not any American user. There are instructions like "b) When operating the electric push rod, click the walking rocker, and then press the mowing height key, sometimes it will work" WTH? So my mower is still incomplete and I've not started the engine. I did drive it around on battery and it seems to be able to negotiate some very difficult terrain. But I'm undecided as to whether to keep it or find something better. If, by the end of the week I still have no instructions to finish assembling my DIY kit, I'll seek a return.

To slow
The media could not be loaded. Waited forever. No tracking never could figure out where it was or when it was coming. Got a phone call was delivered in acceptable condition cuts really good. Plenty of power but it’s way too slow. Radio and speed controllers are cheep . Other than that it’s got it’s place good for the money

Needs Killswitch
use this in a ditch and slope behind my home. worked right out of box. I did lose a bolt cause I never checked them before using. I need to velcro a connector that is loose in battery compartment. it is too slow for just cutting my 1/2 acre yard. it cuts bout 19 inch width between tracks, so run mower back and forth too much. this works well on a slope that's too dangerous to ride a mower on. the ditch ranges from 30 to 50 degrees and mower has no problem with it. one thing the rc mower needs is a remote killswitch. only problem is if u don't wait for the beep on remote connect and start using remote it sometimes keeps moving slowly forward and won't respond. u have to reconnect controller by turning off and back on and wait for beep. it had me looking for a killswitch. the manual tells u to wait for beep. I have a flail cutter I was wanting to adapt to this mower and get rid of blades, but after a bit of calculations I think the motors won't handle to push it and lot of modifications like higher amp controller board and alternator. also, the tracks run bout 600 to 700 bucks, thinking extra weight and harder to steer will much shorten their life and much harder to handle in ditch. also, make sure u change out the that comes in, it's too thin.

Only cuts a 25 degree slope as per Kohler CV200 Engine 9.5 Users Manual
Placed order 12-13-22. Wrong machine arrived April and sent back. Correct machine arrived June 2023. Two pull start mechanisms stopped working after fewer than 12 pulls. I am now using a dog leash to start mower. I was working with Christine to fix issue but found out yesterday that she has left the company. So I do not have a fully functional mower to this day. This is the biggie for me. I purchased this mower as a slope mower only, based on advertising that stated (still does as of five minutes ago) it would cut up to 45 degrees. In looking at user manual on page 13 it states "Maximum Angle of Operation is 25 degrees". I do flat parts of my yard with a commercial zero turn. False advertising? Blatant deception? So this mower is useless to me. They will not refund my money. Stay tuned.Minor issues besides pull starter mechanism: poor communications through out entire process, no documentation included with mower, mower arrived with many screws not tightened, seemingly little concern for customer care and door of remote fell off (was trying to get that replaced with Christine before she left. Thanks for listening. We received full refund on 9-25. Learned a lot but painful. If this mower had worked up to the advertised 45 degree slope I would be a happy customer.

This mower is awesome!
The media could not be loaded. I really enjoyed using this mower. It was worth the wait. I thought the cut was very good. There was a slight learning curve, since the blades are in between the tracks. There was no damage to the grass when turning the machine. The only thing I wish it had was a clearer operator manual than what is available online. Alex was very helpful each time we reached out about the status of our order and was able to get us connected with the technician when we had questions about operating the mower.
