Good Alarm
Since most of the major appliances, stove, heater, water heater etc in my home are powered by natural gas I decided CO alarms would be a good Idea. This alarm has a small form factor so it does not take up all the space of the electric socket, you will still be able to use the top plug. Its a plug and play application. Plug it in run the test and you are good to go. Although small the alarm has a loud warning alarm in case CO is detected. I haven't experienced any false alarms or weird behavior from the alarm and so far is has worked well. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends buying and installing a CO alarm that meets the requirements of the current UL 2034 safety standard. I saw a review here stating that this alarm was not UL 2034 certified, which is not true. The CO600 is UL2034 certified.Underwriters Laboratories Inc. UL2034 defines three specific alarm points by whichall residential CO alarms must alarm. They are measured in parts per million (ppm) of CO over time (in minutes).UL2034 Required Alarm Points:* If the alarm is exposed to 400 ppm of CO, IT MUST ALARM BETWEEN 4 and 15MINUTES.* If the alarm is exposed to 150 ppm of CO, IT MUST ALARM BETWEEN 10 and 50MINUTES.* If the alarm is exposed to 70 ppm of CO, IT MUST ALARM BETWEEN 60 and 240MINUTES.The detector must ignore CO levels of 30 ppm or less for at least 30 days and ingore levels of 70 ppm or less for at least an hour. There are detectors available that will alarm at a lower level. All detectors must have a silence button. Pushing it will silence the alarm for four to six minutes. If the concentrations stay above 70 PPM it will alarm again in six minutes. (Previously set at 100 PPM) The detectors have only two alarms, a full alarm and a trouble alarm. The second revision of UL-2034 detectors allowed (not mandated) warning alarms that sounded at low levels. Some found this confusing.Detectors manufactured under the new standard should reduce the number of nuisance alarms. These detectors must not alarm in the presence of the gases listed in the following table below the indicated level.Methane 500 PPMButane 300 PPMHeptane 500 PPMEthyl Acetate 200 PPMIsopropyl Alcohol 200 PPMCarbon Dioxide (CO2) 5,000 PPMMore info on UL-2034 can be found on Underwriters Laboratories website ul.comIf the device starts to malfunction/ give false alarms I will update my review.

This detector saved my life.
I am living in high building condominium. Carbon monoxide(CO) leaking happened in my building last December. Since I was opening the window, I was fine even my room was hight CO level. The fireman recommended to buy CO detector, so I decided to get CO detector. This product was good reviews, nice price and easy to use. 5 month later, CO leaking happened again! It was midnight, the detector started beeping. My room was very hight carbon monoxide level and up/down floor's room also. For some reason, there was something wrong in some system in the building and CO accumulated in my room and neighbors. The fire department came to my building and took all residents out of the building. They figured out the cause and confirmed decreasing CO level, and the residents back to the home.I also back to my room, closing the window, and plug in the detector. The detector started beeping again!I told the fireman and they checked my room again, actually CO level was still very high in my room. The fireman said "I'm glad, you have a CO detector."The detector works well and saved people's life in my building and myself.I really appreciate the detector.

Small form factor, reasonable price, and peace of mind
How does one review a carbon monoxide alarm? I don't have a supply of carbon monoxide available, so I can't actually test the main job of the device. What I can say is that from what I can judge, this alarm is a good one. The small form factor means it is fairly unobtrusive in your home; you'll notice it, but after a while it fades into the background. It doesn't stick out from the wall very far, so you won't be bumping into it or tripping over it. Usage is as simple as can be, just plug it in. After doing an initial test to see that the alarm works (by pushing the button), you can basically forget about it. The constant red light lets you know that it is on and working. This product does wear out over time, loosing its detection capabilities I believe, so it will need to be replaced after five or seven years. I did have to replace the three in my house a year or two ago when they reached the end of their lifespan. Even with this, though, the device was helpful, as it began having its power light flash to let me know if was nearing the end of its life. For peace of mind, a reasonable price point, and a small design, this is a good carbon monoxide detector to get.

Easy to install
This one doesn't use a backup battery but I'm unlikely to have a fire in the fireplace when the power is out. In Florida we tend to lose power from hurricanes, not ice storms. All it requires is to plug it into an outlet.
