Any idea what the recommended tension weight is on these?

I own a couple sets of these to tie down kayaks on my truck, but I still use front and back safety ties as back up. If I was concerned, I would use a “weight rated” tie down relative to how/what I am using it for.

I need the strap to be abt 4' long. can i cut it? if i cut it, is there any way to prevent the cut end from unraveling?

I have not cut this particular strap but I have cut many others and just burned the ends to keep them from unraveling

The webbing we use for these Endless Ratchets measures 1" wide by around .08in (2mm) thick.

How do you release the strap once tightened?

The small black bar under the spring (see picture on Amazon), just squeeze the bar compressing the spring and the tension is released. Play around with them and you'll get it. Quite easy to figure out.

Good product. More practical for my intended use than a strap with hooks.

I haven't actually used them yet, but I intend to use them to secure items to a roof basket on my car. For that purpose, I think this style of strap will work much better than one with hooks at either end. I'll update my review should there be any issues with weather exposure, etc. Seems like a pretty good product for the price.
