For weeks I've smelled gas in my basement area but could never pin point the exact location. I've tried all the poor man's methods, smell test, spray water with soap test, and nothing. I bought this device thinking it was a waste of money because I did not know how to use it properly.First, you'll have to turn it on in an area of fresh air. Wait 30 seconds, then go test it when turning on a gas stove or something of the like. Afterwards, turn it off and wait some more, then retry and go to the area where you believe there's a leak. When I tell you the horror I had when the device turned red and went up to 10, I knew I had a problem. On one hand, I am happy I found the leak, and on the other hand I was mortified knowing that I had a leak for weeks.I highly recommend this product, even if it's for a peace of mind. I can't remember what I spent on it, but it was well worth it.

This little gem is a godsend, it very well may have saved my life, literally! We all know the old soapy bubbles trick, but who ever checks anything but the fittings? Nobody! That can be a huge mistake, I had a flex line that was leaking like a sieve in the middle, where it was touching the floor, I couldn't see the corrosion, though I could smell the mercaptan. It wasn't leaking fast enough to be audible. This device pinpointed the leak in under a minute, and found another leak on an outside line as well! Propane is way too expensive to piss away, not to mention very dangerous. Wherever I use propane, I will never be without one of these again.

Works well excellent tool especially for the price. Located a gas leak in my home verified by a plumber with a better tester. I would definitely recommend this.

I've had a few of these over the years. They are cheap enough so that I have two usually. I don't bother with soap bubble testing anymore. These are more sensitive, FASTER, and more accurate. I wouldn't do gas work without one of these. Flare fittings are great, BUT they can often leak a little if not perfect. These make sure you don't smell that small leak of gas.

Thought I smelled gas around my gas stove but wasn’t sure. This item was delivered the same day and it detected two small gas leaks in fittings connecting gas to stove. BGE came out immediately and sure enough there was gas leaking at fittings. They turned gas off to house for the night to be safe until fixed in the morning. This is definitely worth having if you have gas appliances. 👍

Exactly as described. I was amazed at the performance of the unit. Even the smallest of leaks was detectable.
