A 10 year old scout's perspective -
“Hatchet” by Gary Paulston was a very interesting, descriptive book detailing the adventures of a boy named Brian Robussin. A very strong point to me was the animals were described as having very naturalistic actions that added to the suspense and excitement of the story. I was impressed by the fact that Brian kept getting up after every fall, rising to every challenge, from surviving a plane crash to getting beat up by a moose and quickly acting during a tornado. It was very descriptive. I could feel Brian’s home sickness, his pain, his sadness, and his joy. I recommend this book for anyone who wants a adventure novel that is full of emotion, but be warned, the beginning is a little slow, and I almost did not read past the first few pages. However, I am glad I stuck it out like Brian, as I cannot wait to read the rest of Brian’s adventures in the rest of the Hatchet series. Happy reading!- Grady S

thrilling survival story
A 13 year old boy survives for 56 days with no fire, no food and no shelter. How did he do it? A very exciting story, a good read for 12-16 year olds.

Nail biting till last Page...!!!
No wonder the efforts and rejections of years of practice have brought out real gold in writing by the author. The visuals are so stunning, that you feel as if you are right there in the midst of the scenes.Refreshing to read, even after such a long time, thanks to our school who recommended this book to my son, I ended up in this wonderful indulgence.

Excellent adventure and good lessons
I bought this after it was recommended on a YouTube channel I watch. It is a quick read, as in a few hours max at only 160 pages. But it packs a lot in. My mother and son both read it before I did and we all agreed it was a really good book. Excellent lessons for youngsters about not giving up and the strength or a positive attitude. I will leave it there for you to enjoy the journey yourself. Buy it and enjoy it.
