Great album
This album, together with Rumours define Fleetwood Mac. Now there Christine Macvie has passed on, we still J still have those great tracks to enjoy. Together with Stevie Nicks it was a great lineup.

Utterly superb
Despite being around since the mid-60's, this excellent, self-titled album from Fleetwood Mac that really made the band big in America.A straightforward production & completed more quickly than Rumours &, more especially, Tusk. Aside from the singles, the album opens with the punchy "Monday Morning" immediately followed by the gorgeous ballad "Warm Ways". It's impossible to find a bad track.Recommended for anyone who thought Fleetwood Mac only really got going with Rumours. This album will soon disspell that assumption

A Must-Have for the Rock Fan
I didn't buy this album on vinyl for many years, and I really don't know why. Sure, it's no Rumours, Tango or even Tusk - but that's not to say it isn't home to a slew of great, catchy pop rock numbers. Obviously you have the enchanting odes of Nicks' 'Rhiannon' and 'Landslide'. They're essential Mac listening, but there's also the dirgey, dragging rocker of Buckingham's 'I'm So Afraid', or Christine McVie's feelgood 'Say You Love Me'. A version of 'Crystal' with Buck on vocals, a rollicking cover of 'Blue Letter' and the ever enigmatic 'World Turning' - pretty much every track on here is great, and it sounds just incredible on vinyl. I've suffered no problems with skips, jumps or marks on my copy - and it looks pristine. You've got to love that white colour scheme. The inner sleeve even has lyrics. A great record, and perfect for any pop rock or rock fan.

IT
In 1974 Mick Fleetwood was looking for a cheap studio in which his band could record their next album, it was a difficult time for the band who had been struggling since leader Peter Green had suddenly left the band. To demonstrate the sound of the studio the engineer put on an album by a duo called Buckingham and Nicks for Fleetwood it was a eureka moment he knew he had found a new guitarist for the band [Lindsey Buckingham] what he didn't realise was that he was also getting another vocalist [ Stevie Nicks].This album was the result of that visit to find a studio, although overshadowed by the commercial behemoth that was Rumours this album has much to recommend it there is of course Stevie Nicks' wonderful Rhiannon and Christine Mc Vie rising to the challenge of two new songwriters joining the band with what is my favourite track on the album Say You Love Me, I also enjoyed Landslide but what you can hear on this album is how quickly the band found its groove how Mick Fleetwood and John Mc Vie telepathic rhythm section lock in with Buckingham and Nicks to produce the sound of this version of Fleetwood Mac. It should be noted that this was not the first album to be called Fleetwood Mac Peter Greens version of the band also produced an excellent album called Fleetwood Mac although that is a far more blues based album. Peter Green had a name for what Fleetwood found in that studio in 1974, he described what it was as IT!!.

The precursor to the really big one
And you can hear the groundwork for Rumours being laid right here in these tracks. This album often gets forgotten when people talk about this line up, but I recommend setting aside your copy of Rumours for 40 or so minutes and giving this a listen. You will not be disappointed.

A classic album with no "filler" (buy the CD at this great price not mp3! your ears will thank you)
It's easy to just go with the "Hits". I mean, I was 7 yrs old when this album came out, but as a student (and now a mum) who still loves record shops, who can miss Rumours? Tango in the Night? I now find myself listening to the former in 96k/24bit, a long hater of that mp3 sound... and a lover of Mr Buckingham :-)My boys say to me: "but why would you want to listen to SO MANY (old, dated) tracks all from the same person?" - they don't understand the concept of an "album", and this is where they're missing out, how an album is constructed to *flow*, and....there are good and bad albums, there are those for whom you hear a fab track, buy the album, find it's all filler (Noah and the Whale). There is NO filler.Same with Rumours (which I prefer only very very slightly).Classic albums; Breakfast in America, So, Band on the Run, Hotel California, Hounds of Love,Slowhand, Full Moon Fever...those where the sound is good, it's well produced and mastered, and a Playlist just isn't necessary.Just don't listen to it as mp3, eh? ;-)
