Quality Tools & Easy to Use
This review is for TK Custom Moon Clip Loader - Premium S&W 627 8-Shot .38/.357 MoonClip Loader and Moon Clip Unloading Tool Bundle. I tried loading moon clips by hand, and I could not get the cartridges into the moon clip. So, I decided to buy some moon clip tools. I looked at everything that was available, and I settled on TK Custom for a few reasons. First, their Moon Clips are the OEM ones that came with S&W 627. Second, the tools are of very good quality. Third, you have the ability to change the mandrel on the loader to use it for other moon clips, adding to the value. Fourth, made in USA.The moon clip loader is even nicer than I was expecting it to be. The machining, action, and finish is excellent. Using it is even better and easier than I thought it would be. You slide the moon clip on to the mandrel. The mandrel holds the moon clip above the base, so that there is the perfect gap between the moon clip and base. Place the cartridge in front of the open moon clip slot, line it up with the labeled curved slot on the arm, and close the arm. It takes only light/medium force to close the arm and load the moon clip. Everything is held in the right place, so there is no concern of bending moon clips. As mentioned earlier, different sized mandrels are available. This allows you to not have to buy multiple loaders, just multiple mandrels instead. This is not only a potential big money saver, but it is also a big space saver too.The unloading tool is also excellent. It is very sturdy and well made. I had no problem at all removing cartridges from 8-round moon clips. Just slide the tool over the cartridge and twist. The extended half of the tool will just push on the edge of the moon clip making it easy to unload without bending the moon clip. The tool will hold multiple cartridges in the hollow shaft, and there is something that you should be aware of this. If you are removing unspent cartridges, I would only remove one at a time. What I mean is, remove the un-spent cartridge from the shaft before removing another cartridge. If you remove multiple un-spent cartridges at a time, there is the possibility that one of the cartridges can hit the primer of the other cartridge in the shaft and ignite it. This could create a serious safety hazard. Obviously, this does not apply to spent cartridges, but it something you need to be aware of if you are removing un-spent/live cartridges. To indicate how easy it is to ignite a primer, there is a video online showing a spent cartridge being ejected and bumping the primer of a cartridge sitting in a tray and igniting it.On a side note, about the moon clips: I only have the OEM TK Custom carbon steel moon clips, and I have only tried a couple of cartridge manufacturers, but I can tell you right now Hornady cartridges do not fit into the standard TK Custom moon clip. I tried. Each Hornady cartridge was very difficult to load into the moon clip, and the final one was impossible to load. They were also slightly difficult to unload. From what I have read on TK Custom's website, Hornady has the largest cartridge diameter. TK Custom does offer moon clips specifically for Hornady, and they also offer moon clips specifically for Starline as well. Those specifically size ones are only available in stainless steel, so they are priced at almost double of the carbon steel ones.

Great Product!
Works as advertised. Makes the loading of N frame 8 shot moonclips a breeze. The “unloader” works well and both will save your fingers and bent clips. Recommended

A must have
I was going to make my own from micarta and steel. The fitment of the support of the clip is precise and the proper thickness of the rim of the cases. The cost of the tool is cheap for the quality and usefulness of it. A necessity if you have a S&W revolver.

Well made tool
This is an expensive tool considering how seldom it gets used. Probably could have made one but the tool certainly simplifies loading the moon clips. The only bad thing is there isn’t one that is universal. It only works for my specific 8shot revolver clips. It does work well however. Would be a 5 star if not for the high cost.

STOP - DO NOT BUY
My goodness what a horrible waste of money and time this was. I am not sure how any positive reviews were ever filed for this product but I was not even able to load a single moon clip using this and bent/destroyed all of the ones I overpaid TK Customs for. RUN AWAY from this company...

Moonclip installation tool good, removal tool, not so much.
The installation tool works perfectly, however, the removal tool is too big to fit between the .38/.357 rounds properly and will bend the moonclip when attempting to remove the first casing. After one is removed, it works great, but your moonclip is bent. Save your money and make one out of an old golf shaft.

Works as designed
I acquired this set since I know using moonclips in revolvers can be a major chore. Mounting the cartridges onto the Moonclip is very easy. I did not realize that this was caliber specific but I need to get another Collette to make it work with 10 mm, also. This does make for a more pleasant range session. The other tool that looks like a screwdriver is used to remove the spent brass from the moonclips. It prevents the moonclips from bending.I’m pleased with the system, though the moonclips and Collette are proprietary so you have to use their entire system.

A must have tool.
For many years I’ve tried everything for firearm accessories and I have boxes of them. I have owned revolvers my whole life and I have converted to using moon clips. At first I doubted my decision to use moon clips, OMG… they are a pain to load and unload. With this tool a child can do it… I feel stupid I didn’t buy this sooner.
