I am quite impressed by this battery tester so far.
I just got this battery tester today, but I have several batteries laying around to test it with and an old (15 years old) OTC battery tester to compare it to. I also have a couple multimeters to match both of them up with. This reads the voltage to the tenths of a volt on the tester itself, but to the hundredths on the app. It's accurate more than accurate enough, a bit of fluctuation in the hundredths between all my testers, but that isn't uncommon. First, this will actually drop the voltage during testing, quite a bit if the battery isn't very good. Can't say that of my old OTC. This will not give a read out of the cranking or cold cranking amps, my OTC will. How accurate is it? Who knows, but it hasn't let me down in 15 years. Now, here's where things get complicated. My old OTC will give one battery I have a pass, where as this tester fails it under a load. I trust this tester due to the drop in voltage (I didn't save the test or I would have the numbers and would post the picture) seen when testing it. It's a small battery that sat a long time, although it holds a charge just fine and the voltage is also fine at 12.6v. Overall, I'm impressed. This cost me about $20 on sale and I'm glad I jumped on it. I have other batteries I plan on testing with it, one had been sitting on the charger (just floating, already fully charged) for a while and needs to rest before I test it. Oh, and the app is very easy to use. I haven't used all of the features, but I intend to make a point to. I think this will work great and would be a great addition for any level of tech that picks it up for their home or shop toolbox or emergency tool kit. I will update sometime in the future after I've used it for a while.

Well worth the money!
This is going to be a detailed review. The short version is, its a MUST buy! Lets start with the packaging, nice simple box with plenty of information on it. Once you open it up, you find the tester and instructions. The instructions are well written, and in a few different languages. The tester feels nice and solid, if you squeeze it the plastic does not flex or squeak. The clamps are compact but feel solid and they open really wide making it easy to get onto any battery terminal. The tester is simple and advance at the same time. When you hook up the tester to a battery, it will tell you if the battery is low on power right away as you can see in one of my pictures. The first battery was reading at 9.7v and the tester told me right away. On another picture you can see I am testing it on one of my cars that sits a lot. Battery shows 12.1v, but hitting the "TEST" button, it puts a load test and told me it was falling down to 10.6v. The tester is also advance, once you download the app to your phone, you can run a few different test. The load test will graph out the results if the battery drops down a lot. The best part, after every test you can save the results to check out anytime. The last test I tried was the cranking test, right away it told me the battery has low cranking voltage. I suspected this was the case, as it has gotten colder I have noticed the battery struggling a bit, this only confirms what I suspected. My ONLY complaint, I wish they would have put a QR code to download the app, either on the box or instructions. However the instructions does tell you to download the app from either the playstore or Apple app store. Over all this is a must buy for any dyi'er or even a professional mechanic. Also would make a great stocking stuff to any gear head!

Doesn't work with my side post battery leads
I could not use this meter on my side post battery application. The metal teeth are recessed too far back from the edge of the plastic clamp to grip the slot in the attachment bolts on the battery leads. The only way I could get it to work was to clamp the hex end of the bolt, but that is was too unstable, especially when trying tests when the engine is running. The clamps need to be redesigned like normal jumper cables. The meter probably works well with top post batteries. Update: I increased my rating from 2 to 4 for two reasons. First, I devised a work around using two independent small clamps that gripped the posts very securely. Then I clipped the device's clamps to them. I was then able to test the device and it worked well. I especially like the cell phone app that allows the phone to connect through blue tooth to the device. This provides more features and allows you to run the starter and charging tests from inside the vehicle, saving multiple trips back out to the device. You can also save the test results to the cell phone for future reference. Second, I was very impressed with customer service. They worked with me through the entire experience and were very interested in helping me. If they develop a clamp design that works directly, I will increase the rating to a 5.

No longer works....Update
Bought this Bluetooth battery tester in 2022. Worked great for a year, tested accurately many family and friends' batteries. In December, a coworker's battery looked like it was failing so she asked to test it for her. Unfortunately the BT20 app now will no longer connect to the tester. I went online and people said to uninstall the app and reinstall, I did and still it does not find the tester. It is now paperweight. I will tell you to AVOID any battery testers devices that depend on an app to work. UPDATE: after a recent Android update, it is working great again! My sister's car wouldn't start yesterday. She was going to spend $200 on a new battery. I checked her battery using this and it said the battery was good. I decided to instead use the code scanner- no check engine light was on. Turns out that she has a misfire on cylinder 2.

Amazing battery tester!
Very easy to use! I downloaded the app as soon as I got it and started testing batteries. Tested my camper batteries first, then my truck, lawnmower, tractor, side by side, two boats, and my bike. It’s pretty sweet and works on any battery at my house. Only complaint I have is some of my batteries were hard to read to pinch in the info needed for testing. I’d buy this product again if I had to! Update: Just wanted to share how nice and easy this was to use yesterday when I had an issue with a snowmobile of mine. It wasn’t running right, kept dying and then wouldn’t start. To make a long story short I put this unit on my battery and I had 12.4v, did a load test and and it came back at 9.1v. I had a bead battery. If it wasn’t for this I would have put my voltmeter on and seen 12.4 and thought it just needed to be charged then somewhere down the trail I would have been stuck again. Love this tester!

Nice addition to a garage
I get frustrated when going to those car parts places to ask for them to test your battery as you don’t know what personality you’ll be running into. My last experience was not much satisfactory so I thought $20 bucks could save me from that hassle. It does! Not only I don’t have to drive my car over there concerned that battery will die on me to have to deal to those guys, but also it allows me to perform the test on my own time and learn what’s wrong with the battery without receiving attitude from the shop guy. I felt I could perform every test they performed with their large scanner. Back to my garage closet it goes until the next battery fails in 3-5 years. But I know I’m able to diagnose it anytime I want or need.

Not Ready for Professional use and Reliability
purchased with high hopes in conductance testing low voltage batteries. This tester will NOT test batteries with a voltage below 4 volts. QUOTE: It can also test batteries as low as 2V, helping prevent misreads and ensuring consistent results. Yep its misleading alright-I returned it promptly. BTW I am a licensed automotive tech/shop owner-So if you get a screen saying"warning connect battery for tests," you're done and cannot test the battery- I doubt its accuracy in all tests from this. The clock is in Military time and can not be changed. Also, be warned that my support email response to my concerns states- The BT600 Plus is designed to test 6V, 12V, and 24V lead‑acid batteries only. WOW-Not AGM, which most cars today use.

Accurate. Easy to Use. Excellent Value
This is a terrific unit. Easy to use. Saves test results. Compact and extremely well built. Although the manual refers to a BT20 app, it is not currently available with that name. The developer has provided a work around. Scan the bar code in the manual and it takes you to a YouTube video. You’ll need to download the TestFlight app and the Battery Lab app. Test Flight will provide a code to use to open Battery Lab which is essentially the BT20 so called app. It works very well. I have used for accurate readings on our boat batteries and our two autos with no issues whatsoever. Great tool that is a must for any tool box. As always great to have a good idea of your battery’s state of charge before going to the dealer for service!!

Robust, chunky batter tester
This is very much geared for small shop use rather than at-home, although if you do have a bunch of cars or tinker with those of friends and family it's still moderately useful given the price. Build quality is solid, as you'd expect, with thick, chunky sides to make it easy to grip when wearing gloves and presumably to offer some degree of protection if it gets knocked around. You get two sets of leads - one a bigger alligator style clamp like you'd find on jumper cables and some smaller ones that look more like needle nosed pliers. Both are useful, as while the regular clamps work on most batteries with top posts I had to use the smaller ones to sneak in and grab the side of an obnoxious group 75 battery in an old Camaro. It has three modes (the system test is just all three combined) - general battery test with the vehicle off, a crank test showing the draw on the battery during startup, and then a significantly more involved charge test where you idle, enable high-current devices like heaters and defrosters and rev to 2500rpm...and combinations of those. The latter is the only one that can become a bit awkward as you have to bring the unit around to the drivers seat while still connected. The cables are long enough if you have a front mount battery, at least, but you do need it on hand to hit enter through each of the test steps. Once done it displays the results on a very bright TN screen with mediocre viewing angles. As far as I can tell the last ten test results are stored for viewing or - amusingly - printing. Out front is a little thermal printer that spits out a few inches of test summary that you can pass along. The cables all attach via a VGA style port complete with threaded locks. It's secure but a little awkward when switching the sizes. The case fits everything in separate compartments and even has a little pocket on the top for a few rolls of thermal paper. Provided you don't need any sort of app or PC connectivity this is a solid unit that performs battery tests well.

Proper battery tester that makes car issues easy to diagnose
This battery tester is honestly excellent and feels like a proper professional tool rather than a cheap gadget. Build quality is solid, the screen is clear and the menus are easy to follow, even if you are not a mechanic. It gives you loads of useful info straight away like voltage, battery health, and the actual CCA performance, so you can quickly tell whether a battery is genuinely tired or just needs charging. It works across 6V, 12V and 24V systems which makes it useful for more than just one car, and the clamps feel strong and reliable when connected. The built in battery is a big bonus because you are not relying on the car to power it, and it feels much more convenient when testing multiple vehicles. It also supports a wide CCA range which makes it feel versatile rather than limited. What makes it stand out is how complete the testing is. Cranking tests and charging tests are really useful because it helps you pinpoint if your issue is battery related or alternator related, instead of guessing and wasting money replacing the wrong part. The built in printer is a brilliant touch too because you can instantly print a report which makes it feel workshop level and it is genuinely handy for keeping records. From what I have seen elsewhere, accuracy and consistency is one of the main reasons people rate these highly, and after using it I can see why, it gives confident results that are easy to understand. Overall this is one of those tools that pays for itself because it helps you avoid bad battery purchases and saves time diagnosing faults.

Handy diagnostic tool, useful for anyone managing a large number of vehicles
As a person who takes care of our company vehicles, I often deal with various complaints about the difficult starts, dead batteries and electrical issues. Having a tool like the Topdon BT600 is really valuable for me, as it allows me to quickly and thoroughly check the battery and the charging systems. Based on few tests I can determine whether the issues is something simple we can deal in house, or whether we need to book the vehicle into the shop. The device has a rugged build and I'm sure it would have no problems being used in a full time shop or by a mobile mechanic. The tester can check the battery health and diagnose charging and cranking issues. The all in one tester has a built in clear screen and a mini thermal printer, which is perfect for keeping track of the diagnostics. Topdon made the tester's interface very clear and easy to use. The tool can be used practically without any training, although a quick look through the manual is useful. Very good functionality, quick diagnostic procedures and very good quality of the kit earn high marks. Easy 5 stars!
