No more head trauma
I have to work on my Jeep at least once a week because it's a Jeep and the hood kept falling on my cranium. I was pretty much used to it since I'm usually numb from the bellybutton-up. But my doctor said I'm about 3 concussions away from having the cognitive abilities of a severely inbred goldfish so I invested in these hood shocks and a football helmet. They do their job. I'm pretty happy. Would buy again.

POP POP...Click Click...Installed in 3 minutes!!!
Always a little skeptical about buying auto parts online...hit or miss...but these babies are great 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee confirmed fit. Very powerful...probably better than the originals but only time will tell. For the money they have already paid for themselves and I don't dread opening my hood any more.

Missing the rubber stopper bumpers that the stock units came with
There is a metal clip that hold the end piece on, which you have to remove in order to install them. These things are a real test of your Christianity, and can only be removed with much verbal helps. - You should try to unscrew the heads off of your old units, if they are still in good condition and slide them over these units, since they do not come with them. Thankfully the heads unscrew easy enough to do this, but that frig'n clip is a B**ch.

Quick install!
I'm short and trying to check my oil or anything else under the hood, was near impossible with the hood lifts that were inoperable on my newly purchased 17 year old Jeep.I ordered these hood lifts to solve this problem. The lifts were delivered promptly and my Uncle installed them for me in minutes! I don't think it even took him more than ten minutes. That was years ago and they still work perfectly, as they did when newly installed. Very happy with this purchase.

Did not fit 2004 Grand Cherokee.
Did not fit 2004 Grand Cherokee. Ball stud on the fender was the correct size. Ball stud on the hood was too big for this to fit. Tried to unscrew the end and reuse the old ones…they are threaded differently. I should have checked earlier…too late to return. I’ll try to find others that do fit.

Difficult to install, but works ok
The new lift seems fine but cold weather will tell the tale. I used just one so far as it was all kinds of wet hell to hold up the heavy tailgate while removing the old support with a #7 star bit and ratchet. I had to drench the old bolt with penetrating oil and then it was hard to line up the bolts for removal while the old support was still in tension. I can't say which bolt was smarter to remove first. The reverse was just as bad to install the new support bolts. Make sure you prop up the tailgate ALL the WAY with a firm support to accurately line up the bolts (not a great job for shorties or slight wives) or you may strip the bolt holes. I gave up after one install to wait for spring.

So stiff though they were broken... BUT
Initially I thought these items were broken because I had an extremely difficult time trying to compress them by hand after installing on my Jeep hood these things are awesome not only do they hold up my hood open they will actually lift the hood up for you after unlatched very strong and sturdy product for the price overall a great buy

TIME AND USAGE WILL TELL
I couldnt compress them by hand . thought they were seized but when i put them on they work.. heres the problem .. THEY ARE OVER CHARGED TO THE SPECIFICATIONS INREGARDS TO THE WEIGHT OF THE HOOD. . when i release the hood it wants to fly open like a rocket with to much force instead of a nice and easy lift . not a big problem if i hold onto the hood and allow the hood to come up. And yes they are made in China ..
