The Mixed-Up Chameleon Board Book

This terrific little board book works on many levels. It teaches colors (by coding animals with one bold color), self-confidence (by demonstrating the chameleon's disastrous attempts to be someone else), and vocabulary (by including some less commonly incorporated animals such as flamingos and chameleons). I stumbled upon this book after seeing a beautiful little animated short based on it, but the book is so engaging, it has supplanted the cartoon for my son. The book is spare, with few words and a simple plot, but there is plenty of humor and activity to keep my two-year-old interested. I highly recommend this book for youngsters who love animals.

This is so great for kids. With the world we live in its a great message that sometimes we may try different things but in the end we will be happiest just as ourselves that we were at the start.

Eric Carle books are unique. The art is fun and colorful. And the stories also have a message. I read this to my art class (5-7 year olds). They laughed out loud. Then we tried our hands at Carle’s art style. Great fun.

Such a cute book! This was a difficult book to find as a board book - so glad I found it here. It’s so colorful and my son has loved it since he was 1 and still loves it at 3. I got this book for a friend’s one year old birthday.

I bought this for my best friend's 3 year old daughter for her birthday and we both came to the same conclusion...the further along you get into the book the more nightmarish the chameleon starts to look but my friend's daughter didn't seem to mind as she loves to flip thru it over and over again to look at the pretty colors and all of the animal mix ups. So if you don't like to look at an illustration of an animal that looked like Dr. Frankenstein got ahold of it then this book isn't for you...but more than likely kids will think it is funny and love it.

My son loves all things Carle and this was another one he adored! It is a super cute story about a chameleon who wants to be other animals but who in the end just wants to be himseld. Great for toddlers!! My 4 year old loves it. He even likes a show on one of the streaming channels that has all the books read and this is his favorite on the show.

Book arrived with 2 small pieces of “gunk”. Easy to wipe off and does otherwise appear to be new but these are gifts and if I didn’t take the time to read the story myself, I would have missed it and that’s embarrassing. Having said that, super cute story!!!! The point of it seems to be loving yourself as is, for who you are, and not making all these silly changes that you’ll wind up regretting. I love the story so much that I bought a second copy for us to keep.

Beautiful story and illustrations. My kids love it and we learned about animals and colors with it.The material is very good and durable. It has survived two toddlers without damage.Be sure this is the right size for you as it is a medium size, perfect for toddler hands.

My 3 year old is obsessed with Eric Carle. He loves this book, knows it by heart. Very colorful and fun to read. Cardboard book, easy for little hands to manipulate. Highly recommend

Minha filha ama esse livro! Tem desde antes de completar 1 ano. A história é ótima, texto fácil de ler, boas ilustrações. A versão cartonada tem excelente durabilidade.
