Works great, except will require a 12V power supply for storage applications.
The Good1) I have used this for two months and have not seen any rodent activity!2) It also keeps away mosquitos. I know this sounds strange; however, I was working on my vehicle and disconnected it, since the flashing lights were annoying along with the high pitch sound. However, even more annoying were the mosquitos that came when I disconnected it, so I turned it back on when I was working on my vehicle. The Bad1) If you keep you vehicle on a charger for storage, this unit will require its own separate 12V power supply to still function. The float voltage of an external maintenance charger will disable this unit.

These do Actually Work
I bought three of these for my cars that are parked outside. Some are easier to install than others. One, with the battery in the trunk, did not have any easy power point in the engine, so I had to reach way down to the hot terminal on the alternator. We have had a major infestation of rats since the raccoon population was wiped out by some odd disease. The rats like to eat their dinner on any flat spot in the engine compartments of all of the cars that are parked near the creek that runs through our front yard. Setting #2, which adds some audible frequencies to the ultrasonic, seems to work better than #1. You will hear it clearly if you have good healthy young ears. My burned out 68 year old ears don't pick it up much. So it would not be much of a repellent for old guys like me. I even put the two remote LED's inside of a big plastic pumpkin on Halloween, and it was a big hit with the neighbor kids. They have been working their magic now for about two months. Very happy.

Waste of Money
I purchased this part for right around $50.00 and then I paid Subaru an additional $80.00 to install it for me. It appeared to work during the summer, but the rats don't want in the hood compartment during the high heat summer months that my area experiences. At the first sign of cold I took my car for the oil change, opened the hood and found that my engine compartment was infested with rat droppings. I am very disappointed by this product that promised so much yet delivered nothing. Save your money and find another way to keep the pesky critters out of your engine compartment. .

The really work
We live in an area with a lot of pack rats and mice, Im hearing from neighbors about how much damage the rodents are doing. We leave our hoods up and night and have tried everything, but still get rats in our engines. I installed this about 2 months ago and everyday I’m surprised to see no signs of rats :) I had a question for the seller and they got back to me right away. Good seller and good product so far !!!!!

Only installed for 1 week, but appears to be working as advertised.....Product is still working after 3 months of use.
I have only had this installed for 1 week. So far so good. After $12,000 in wiring damage on my Tundra it needs to. I also use moth balls. An update......After 3 months, still no damage to wiring. Use of this and moth balls appear to be doing the trick. However my battery has taken a hit. A battery is cheaper than having to replace both wiring harnesses. This product works in my opinion.

Second one purchased - works really well, may have to switch settings though.
I purchased one of these for a Hyundai Sonata and it worked well so I just purchased one a few years later for a Camry that kept having mice/squirrels getting into the engine and onto the cabin air filter. Mouse poops and pee all through the cabin air filter. Yuk. The Hyundai one worked on setting 2. But for the Camry I still had a mouse, it just didn't live there as much, i.e. came to visit and eat and poop once. Changed the filter (for the 10th time) and moved the switch to the 3rd one down. 1st is off. I could hear a slight high pitched ringing when I did it. I'm in my 50s so a younger person may have heard it louder. After 1 week I don't see any half eaten acorns and no poops on the air filter. I used a spectrum analyzer app on my phone and noticed that it sends out (on the 3rd setting) a tone that ramps up from 13k to at least 22k (the app doesn't go past 22kHz). It cycles between this ramp and a constant high frequency white noise from 13k up to 22k. It's nice to see that it's not just a constant sound and that it changes, It also has time where it's not outputting any sound that I can pick up. I have 2 dogs and neither one seems to be the least bothered by this, which is good. So my recommendation is to follow the directions, start at the 2nd setting and if that doesn't work, go to the second. Remember, the very top (first) setting is actually OFF.

More features then anything else.
This is not a comment on effectiveness as I have only recently installed it. What I can say is that the product has more features then anything else on the market that "should" be effective on rodents. There are three LED's (two remote mounted so the entire engine bay can be lit up), and three noise levels. The installation was easy, comes with a built in fuse, and open ring terminals to easily attach to the battery + and the chassis ground point -. It shuts off automatically when the car starts, and turns back on shortly after the car is turned off.The instructions are clearly translated to English by someone without the best English skills, but it is understandable enough.Assuming it lasts a while, this product is better then anything else on the market.I also emailed the company with a few questions, and they responded quickly.

Pleasantly Surprised
I waited to write a review so that I could give this device a good try and I am not only surprised but totally pleased and that's after 3 months of use. I have spent a couple thousand $$ on auto repairs from mice eating the wires and making nests under the hood of a vehicle I don't use that often and is stored under a portable garage. Ive tried everything from bait, traps, bags of various scents and dryer sheets and had some good results but always the hassle and expense of replacing those throw away items. The Fanhome works!!
