Thomas the Train: Take-n-Play Tidmouth Tunnel Playset

Because of the extra tracks we have, my granddaughter can connect several sets, and she love them!

First, let me comment on the negative reviews I have seen about this being a continuous loop with no way out. My child has no problem picking the train up and turning it to move it outside the entry way and onto another track or playset. This is a toy, it requires using a little imagination and creativity. Now, could they have thought a little more and put an extra exit into the set? Yes, probably so. However, my review isn't based on what I think, it's based on my child's fun and experience with it. He has never once complained about having to pick up the train or derail it to make it turn and leave the track. You have a lot of pictures to look at here and on the box before you purchase this track. So you know what you're getting before you buy it. I would suggest anyone to come to Amazon and look at reviews for anything before you buy it. I always do that for about anything I buy. This track is great to add to previous sets and folds without a problem. These sets are great. My child loves them. I would recommend this to anyone who has a child that loves these tracks.

We bought this toy to entertain our 2 year old on a long flight and it did the trick. Once our son started getting irritable from the flight, we pulled out this Thomas Take & Play toy. It fit nicely on the seat so he could roll the train around the track and through the tunnel. It comes with Thomas, but we bought an extra train car to go with it so the toy would have a longer entertainment value. The magnet that holds the trains together seems stronger than the ones on the wooden trains, another plus. The only downside of this toy, as compared to some of the other Take & Play toys, is that there isn't a place to store Thomas when not in use. It would have been more convenient if they designed a place to put Thomas, but I don't hold that against the toy since it is very compact and lightweight. Overall, I'd recommend this toy especially if you're looking for a small travel toy.

The set is rated a 3 because it doesn't lay flat on the floor and the trains fall off too quickly. It is definitely NOT educational. My grandson played with it a short while, and got upset because the track DOES NOT KEEP the trains on it flat. It is difficult to figure out how to fold it up--- and there were NO directions as to how to fold it. It appears that the take n play really isn't something to take out to play and then put it away. I think the only thing to stabilize it is to permanently attach it to a table or board. And, as a grandmother who lives in a tiny house--- it isn't an option. The reason I got it was for my grandson to take it off the shelf, play with it on my wood floors and fold, and put it away on the shelf. He loves the thomas the trains which is why I bought them in the first place.

Purchased this set for my 16 month old, Thomas-obsessed son. We've bought him several Thomas trains, including the motorized TrackMaster, chunkier Rolling Friends/Discover Junction and the pull back racer cars. But he likes these tracks and trains the best. I like that the track is connected and folds up for storage, and that these trains are magnetized and easy for him to link together on his own. He literally plays with this set all day long. I wish I had known about the Take and Play line before all others; I would have strictly stuck with these from the start.Note: he has Thomas, Annie, Clarabel, Percy and talking James to go with this set. He seems to like James the best; I'm sure it's because he lights up and talks when he pushes the button.

My son literally plays with his wooden Thomas tracks all day long so I thought I would get him this to change it up. Well he played with it for a couple of days and now it hasn't been played with for a couple of weeks. This does fold up nicely and easily though. I would definitely recommend getting the wooden Thomas tracks over this though- they are super durable and if your son is like mine he will play with them for hours every day (and my kids normally jump back and forth between toys all day so that is saying something). The little take and play train that comes with this is great though! I know they say the take and play trains don't fit the wooden tracks but kids use them anyways even if they are a little too small.

a few things that prevent me from giving 5 starts:1 - the tunnel can be removed, it is not stuck in place (the more lose parts, the more likely something will get lost)2 - the train track doesn't make any sense (I added more tracks to connect it to other Thomas tracks): once the train 'enters' this oval track, the only way to exit is to back out. Try doing that with a 5-6 trains-long train.
