Mission of the Messiah: On the Gospel of Luke (Kingdom Studies)

This is not my first contact with Dr. Gray. I have already listened to  Exodus Called to Freedom CDs  and  First Corinthians: The Church and the Christian Community, 10-Part Study , plus the EWTN Series: The Gospel of Matthew "The King and His Kingdom," not found on Amazon.com. Dr. Gray is certainly a first-class scholar and a gifted teacher. He is also very pleasant and interesting to listen to. His lectures always seem to fill in more than a few cracks that I find I have in my knowledge of the subject I am studying, in this case being the Gospel of Luke. He makes excellent use of the OT Scriptures in interpreting the NT texts.Dr. Gray zealously shows us that, what God was intent on doing in the lives of the people that the gospel addresses, is also something He wants to do in each one of our lives. This is important and rewarding stuff that goes by us very much unnoticed—stuff that we should all feel good about—all Blessings!Dr. Gray seems to have a new slant in commenting on his subject. Let all of this be a boost to our Faith! In listening to him in the audio version of this, we come to understand that the Bible story is not just for those for whom the Evangelist was writing, it is our story as well; it tells us who God is and what He calls us to be.

This is a short and very readable introduction to the Gospel of Luke. Gray focuses how Jesus' teachings and actions are rooted in the Old Testament. If you don't know much about Luke's Gospel this is a good place to start.

As books go this one rates at the top of my list, I am now on my forth reading, have yellowed out many sections for deeper understanding, I have also given out several copies to friends who all tell me it is one of the best books they have ever studied. Most excellent read.

This a wonderful Bible study. I enjoyed it so much. This was eye opening to me. I love the way this Bible study takes you from the New Testament to the Old Testament and how they both compliment each other. This is a great Lenten Bible study.

I can't recommend this book more. Tim Gray is a gifted Biblical scholar and an excellent teacher. If you desire that God will open your mind to understand the Scriptures, this is the book to read. This book will help you to understand Jesus and his work. I've read dozens of books on Jesus and this is truly one of the best.

I learned a lot by reading this book. I highly eecommend it. I’m still new in my studies of Jesus but this book help me a lot to understand my faith.

Tim really breaks down the gospel into themes and teachings that wasn't evident until I read this book, also appreciated the questions at end of each chapter. This book was recommended reading from our professor for New Testament.

Great book! Tim Gray is one of the best theologians out there, I definitely recommend this and anything else you can find written by him. Go to EWTN and listen to his studies on the book of Exodus, Gospel of John, Gospel of Matthew and Gospel of Mark for free. Anything he is involved in is done very well.
