Perfect size!
I just received my splat mat and I couldn't be happier. It is a great size for under the chair, big enough but not so big that it gets in the way. The color/print (green ABC pattern) is very cute and look exactly as represented in the photo. I agree with the other comment that it is very similar to a platicized drop-cloth. The patterened size is plastic coated, the floor side is a thick rough fabric, very similar to a painter's drop cloth. Very sturdy and allows me to slide the chair on my wood floors without changing the position of the mat under the chair (the mat slides with the chair). The only problem that I see (which is a problem with these type of mats in general and not specific to this item) is that you may have issues with the mat hitting your table legs. It is stiff enough that you won't really be able to bunch it up around a table leg, so you have to have enough room for the whole thing under your table. Measure before you buy, but if you have room, you will love this mat.

love the splat mat and the matching pouch
i had purchased a cheaper, thinner splat mat with a very colorful character print on it when i was still feeding my baby in her bumbo on the floor. the problem was that since my baby was so close to the mat, she would be distracted by the colorful characters during feeding time so i had to flip it over and have the plain white side facing up. when we finally bought a high chair, the splat mat that we had would wrinkle and bunch up under the high chair (we have carpet). so a friend recommended the sugarbooger mats and we ended up purchasing the abc print. i love that the print is colorful and fun without being too "loud" and overpowering and that is is thick enough that it doesn't bunch up... it still does wrinkle a little but not as much as the thinner splat mat. i love the zippered pouch it came in too. since you are paying more for this splat mat, it's a nice bonus. you can use it as a extra diaper/dirty clothes pouch for your diaper bag or in the car. overall, i love the mat but my only wish is that it was a little bit bigger since i know my baby will soon be flinging food and i don't know if the mat will completely protect my carpet around the high chair.

Works great as an arts & crafts mat for messy kids!
I haven't used this mat very much at mealtimes, for two reasons: 1) my toddler can throw food way beyond the boundaries of the mat, and 2) our dog enthusiastically and thoroughly cleans up the floor after every meal, so between that and regular mopping, the floor stays clean. :) BUT - this splat mat has been a godsend since our son started coloring and finger painting - being under age 2, he inevitably colors not just outside the lines but outside the book entirely. I spread the mat out, put his coloring book on it, and let him go to town - no big deal if he gets crayon marks on the vinyl mat! We've just started playing with washable finger paint, and the mat came in so handy for that as well. I may not use it for its intended purpose, but as an arts & crafts mat, it's done a fantastic job of protecting my floors!

Cool graphic, Average performance
I love the Dia De Los Muertos design on this Splat Mat. It's a fun design that I don't mind putting down in my kitchen/dining room because it doesn't look especially "baby".I'm satisfied with the quality of this item - the material is heavy enough that it stays lying down and does not curl up like other reviews for splat mats that I read.I think the storage pouch is a nice touch. Having this extra item included makes the price more acceptable.I wish that the mat had been folded with the pattern on the inside, instead of facing out, which is why I gave this produce 3 stars. While the mat catches the food that my son drops from his high chair, because of the way it was folded initially, picking up the mat it folds slightly and a lot of crumbs end up on the floor anyways. Now I feel that I'm cleaning the mat and the floor, and not just the floor as I usually would have to do. If I don't get every crumb off before trying to fold it back up, since the pattern faces out while folded, every crumb comes off and onto the floor before it goes back in the storage pouch. If I had an outside to do this, maybe it wouldn't be as bad.Overall, I'm satisfied with the performance, but might only get it out when my son eats things that would be sticky on the floor - such as bananas.

Returned it without use
I ordered this mat because it was cute and received good reviews. I intended to put it under a plastic picnic table in my kitchen. First, the mat is very thin and slippery, so the table would slide on the mat just as it would my tile floor. Secondly, because it was folded up, it was bent throughout the mat, making it look cheap. I primarily returned this, because I think the mat is worth $10 in construction, not the $30 for which it is priced. It would maybe just fit under a high chair, but if your kid throws food, it would be of no help. I went back to using my foam block mat, which prevents sliding. Not worth the price.

Works well, sturdy, cute. Great that bikes are in this transit design!
Not all kid stuff with transit themes has bikes! These ones are really cute little illustrations. Colors are more muted in the transit vehicle mat than the image appears on an iPhone 6s (grayish mustardy yellow, more brownish orange, more olive green, etc) but totally functional. Sturdy and easy to wipe, great size. I put grommets through the corners to attach this to fully cover a kids table, and it's great. Also a good size for a floor mat for art or under an kids table, kids place at an adult table, or high chair. If you don't plan to carry this around in a storage bag, the one included is sturdy and a perfect size to carry: several disposable diapers, bag or small pack of wipes, a small folding changing pad, one outfit, small diaper cream, small hand sanitizer, and bags for diaper disposal.

Not a great Mat!
This is our second splat mat and we purchased it because it had such great reviews. Well we did not like it. It is too small to fit under his high chair, it bunches up when the high chair rolls over top of it and it stains somewhat easy. Overall a poor mat.
