NO 5.1 Audio
This is the 2nd audio extractor I've purchased to attempt to send a 5.1 audio signal to my receiver. I decided to spend the extra money on this one as it claims to work with Roku devices and also claims to have tech support, so I figured this would be the last one of these purchases I'd have to make. While the HDMI picture is clear and the audio is clear, it is only 2.1. I tried changing the dip switches, tried both the optical and coax outputs, tried resetting the unit each time, tried calling Amazon tech support and even called the manufacturer's tech support. Neither of the tech. people solve the problem, although Zapphire from Amazon support was awesome. I was told by the manufacturer's tech support that it must not be compatible with my home theater system. I tested my home theater system and the 5.1 works as it should with a DVD. So I'm sending this one back too and will keep looking for a way to extract 5.1 audio from an HDMI source. This particular device does not work as advertised. ...UPDATE: I called another product's tech team and was told that none of these devices can decode 5.1 from streaming sources, like Roku and Chromecast but that they work well with other HDMI signals. So if anyone can get true 5.1 Dolby Digital (not emulated) out of a Roku and any one of these audio extractors, I'd be very interested in learning how it was done. Thank you!

4K + Surround NOT CAPABLE
For those of you who are looking for an audio extractor to use with your UHD + 5.1 surround setup, look elsewhere. This product does NOT work as advertised. I'm running a UHD60 projector with a 7.1 surround. This was bought to allow for sending the audio across coax and sending the UHD60 signal directly to the projector. I kept finding that I could either get no sound or stereo sound only. After calling Amazon tech support, I found an immediate discrepancy. The enclosed picture was directly from the box indicating 5.1 surround with the 4K 60hz, but the Amazon tech indicated that this configuration was only 2 ch. I called the manufacturer directly to see if there were any dip switch options that might work with my configuration. The person on the phone didn't seem to fully understand the product that he was supporting, but indicated that I should return the product. I returned it and instead bought a different product from Amazon. (Orei 4K 60Hz - model HDA-925) (This product worked perfectly out of the box with no dip switching required)If you're looking to extract audio from HDMI for stereo, then this product works just fine. I will be keeping it as the amount of time I spent troubleshooting sent me past my option to return via Amazon.

Does Everything Claimed--Just Not At The Same Time
The device can do up to 4k video (claimed, I only tested up to 1920 x 1200), and it can do 7.1 channel audio, BUT it cannot do 1920 x 1200 (my monitor's native resolution) and 5.1 channel audio at the same time. The DIP switch settings only allow 1080p along with 5.1 channel audio. This seems very odd to me. Perhaps I am an idiot, but I certainly can't see this limitation from the description as given above. I will say that the picture remains sharp and clean, the audio using the optical out was clear...everything worked well, just not at the same time. For anyone using a more popular monitor resolution, you should have no qualms about ordering this device.Returning this and looking for another device that works for my needs.

This item works perfectly, but has some limitations. ...
This item works perfectly, but has some limitations. There is one input (HDMI) and four outputs - HDMI, coax, optical, and stereo sound. I use the HDMI and stereo sound outputs. I know the coax could be used for older monitors. I have a sound bar which uses optical input, but I don't use it here. The one significant limitation is that there is no volume control for sound. For the most part the volume is just right for my stereo headset, but if there is any room noise I could use a boost, so I ended up running it into a speaker set that has a headphone output. That way I can boost the sound in my headset.

Worked but not as fully as described
Although it did pull audio as described it wouldn't pull the full audio, as if you have 5.1 input it will only extract 2.1 audio. Maybe I got a defective unit but it didn't work for me. Also the audio/video selector buttons were a bit vague on the description as the instructions gave indicators of 1 & 2 and the markings on the unit were on & off.

Problem with using FIOS remote
While it split the signal, I loss volume control via my FIOS remote. I couldn't really fix that no matter how much I tried.

Works great
Works great and as advertised

Works great!
It took me a while to figure out the DIP switches, since it's the first time I had ever seen such a thing. But it works like it's supposed to and I can now use my PS4 Slim with a monitor and have speakers connected.
