Here it is 2023 and my lights still look good and work well with absolutely no problems. Don't buy it unless you really like it because you'll have it a long time!!!!!I wrote the review below 2 years ago speaking of the excellent design, manufacture and durability of this light. Here it is 2 years later and the review is still accurate; just add two years onto everything! I would have to say these lights are about the best purchase I ever made!This is a charming, convenient and durable light.07/05/2010I bought my first light like this about 7 years ago. I liked it so much I bought two more lights 5 years ago. All three of them have been nothing but a joy and are still outside being charming and lighting the way.This light has a hollow molded plastic-like shaft and a cast metal light fixture. The plastic-like shaft is plenty strong and the color and finish on it still look almost new after at least 5 years. The plastic globes fit over the light fixtures and have remained tight and kept the light fixtures dry through many a stormy night. The base of this post light is large enough to keep the light steady under most conditions, but I have attached it to the ground so I don't have to worry about it in big wind storms.This light has a heavy electrical wire and comes ready to plug into any outside electrical outlet. Very convenient.I put four CFL light bulbs into each of my three post lights. That gives me plenty of illumination at a reasonable price out here in the country. Now that I can see how beautiful the snow is when it falls on winter nights, I don't hate winter so much!Patio Living Concepts is a brand name I will remember - for all good reasons!

Update Jan 2017: 2+ years later still going strong. Have never fallen over. Attaching a photo, the green string (actually a leash) around the base has a dog at the other end of it. I decorated it for Christmas last year and it looked great.Very nice looking lamp. Hard to find something like this that's just a plug in. We didn't want to do anything permanent because we weren't sure where exactly we wanted the lights, so this allows us to move them around. The look is absolutely perfect for our 1899 built home. Quality is good for the price. Put sand in the base, hasn't tipped over yet but we still have the rest of fall and winter to go.Others have already noted flaws in the directions and not all the holes line up properly. Read the other reviews before you assemble! We found the same issues. Overall, great lamp but assembly could be improved.

It's very classy look, looks good, great plastic material, has two lighting volume, completely nice and good.

I received this item in a timely manner, well packaged. But as soon as I started to assemble it, I realized that something was terribly wrong with the manufacturing and qulaity control of the item.There are holes in the main base part which are "supposed to line up with holes in the "tubes" that are supposed to be secured to the base using screws.Once you start the screw into the first hole and try to line up the other two remaining holes to install the screws, you realize that the holes do NOT line up. Off by at least an 1/8 of an inch. You have to either force the screws thru the plastic base or re-drill the holes. Neither task shoulod have to be done.The instructions are very poorly written and the top part where the lights are has arms for each lamp holder and they are all loose. Not just a small wiggle loose, but you can move them around 1/4". The last thing in the instructions are to fill the base up with 40 pounds of sand. That is pretty difficult to do without damaging something once you have assembled the entire lamp.I was sort of planning to order another one for my Patio ( this one is for the pool area) but after taking so long to put togeather, I definately will not be ordering another.

It is a nice light but wish the bottom was not plastic

The end result is a nice looking lamp so I have not returned it, however I agree with a lot of the other reviews. I was disappointed to find that so much of it was plastic. The assembly was tremendously frustrating because the holes are not aligned correctly. The instructions are complete garbage and I eventually stopped looking at them. Once I finally got it assembled and stable it works well on my patio. The 2nd dimmer setting causes the bulbs to flicker slightly, but it is not much dimmer than the 1st setting so I'll probably never use it. Definitely not worthy of the hefty price tag.

Absolutely love the lamp makes are backyard patio look very elegant puts out perfect amount of light two months in Florida weather works perfectly so far

I gave it two stars because in the end the light quality is good and the unit looks decent . I cannot recommend this, however, because for the price the following problems should not exist:1) The product is not as advertised: it has some coated metal but the entire base and bottom section is all heavy duty plastic.2) Assembly is a frustrating task. a] The screws do not all align witht he holes and requires a lot of forcing, drilling or banging that should not be necessary. b] Where the pole pieces connect, it the seams are slightly visible. c] the top "light" piece does not connect solidly and has a slight wobble d] The instructions are not in the correct order - if you followthem you will either not be able to get the cord through easily and/or the plastic base cover will not fit.
