'The Story of the Amulet' continues the adventure of the children from 'Five Children and It' and 'The Phoenix and the Carpet'. This time they re-encounter the Psammead from the first book, and find a magical amulet which can transport them in time. They meet with challenges and adventure in many ancient kingdoms, including Babylon, Egypt and Atlantis.
