Short-Vowel Pals

My daughter’s preschool used Starfall and then she continued to use it at home in kindergarten. This set was exciting for her because she already knew the characters and she has success reading them. I love how they are decodable which encourages her to use her phonics skills. Her kindergarten focuses a lot on sight words, which made it where she would default to NOT using her phonics skills. We have used this book set at home to reinforce the need for her to sound out words and to help her gain confidence in her ability to decode words and read stories.

These are simple easy to read for beginners nice illustrations. I wish they were longer though. For the price I think they could do more than 6 pages. Every book is only 6 pages. I still like them.

These were recommended by our kindergarten teacher and I’m happy with them. They’re short and simple, which I like. They are good confidence builders for learning readers

Bought these books for my grandsons. They have enjoyed learning to read words from these books. I would highly recommend these to anyone that have young children in their household who are learning to read. Not disappointed with my purchase.

Entertaining stories. Cute illustrations. Once children have mastered short vowel sounds and basic consonants, they can easily read these books and feel a great sense of accomplishment. Each book focuses on a specific short vowel sound. Both as an educator and as well as a grandparent, I love these books. I have both sets. I wish there were more. A great companion to the Bob Books. In my mind, they are superior to the Bob books because the illustrations are superior as are the stories themselves.

I’m a reading specialist, but since COVID-19, I’ve been teaching my 4yo nephew to read in my free time. These books are perfect, very similar to what we use to teach K reading. Starfall understands reading fundamentals. A buck per book is a reasonable price, and the books are cute and funny. Nephew likes them. My only suggestion is to put more space in between the words. He sometimes gets the words confused/combined because they are too close together for finger reading.

Fantastic for very early readers. Read them on Starfall AP then have a copy to old and read to family. On the Ap the books are very engaging and interactive. Fun to read. 5 year old is learning to read these and he doesnt like reading in general but enjoys this set. There are two sets that go with this series. Get both sets.
