This Girl Loves it.
Loving the bed, its solid, and I love the gray color. Dont expect real stained wood, its obviously laminate covered particle board for the price you're getting.I am a tiny little girl, 5'6" and about 119 lbs. The package is super heavy and you would need someone to help you carry it into your place, or you would end up doing what I did: pressing your back against the wall and shoving it down some steps with your feet. i highly recommend having a buddy help you move the package if you are tiny like me.Everything came with the unit, directions werent too bad. It said you needed two people to help you assemble it, however, i was able to do it all by myself in about an hour, maybe less. Its easier to assemble than my IKEA malm bed i had before this South Shore. The parts seem a lot more sturdy too.I used a little drill to help me, you are definitely gonna need it. There are a couple parts in the directions that asked you to drill into the particle board where there were no holes. If you only have a screwdriver I can see how you can double your assembly time using all that elbow grease. Definitely recommend a drill. You are also going to need a hammer to tap some plugs in snugly, and a measuring tape to figure out the center for where you are going to drill those holes. Don worry, its only for a couple parts.Design wise i wasn't really happy with the flat boards that lay on top. I purchased a FULL size bed and when i placed my mattress on top of the finished product, you can see about 3" of the particle board all the way around your mattress. I think I am going to have to paint it so it doesnt stick out.Over all the unit is sturdy and strong, just not that aesthetically pleasing with the exposed particle board. The unit is sturdy and doesn't make a lot of noise when you move around, super easy to build by yourself. Girl approved.

Decent for the price point
It looks really nice. It's pretty sturdy for press-board or whatever it is. It's definitely not engineered wood though - it's a veneer over particle board. Having said this, it looks good and so long as it's not abused, should last a good while. Color is very nice. The legs stand out from the frame, so it's easy to catch your shins on it as you walk by it, if you're not paying attention to where you step. Paired it with the Fynn headboard and it looks really good. My son loves it. If you attach a headboard though, you're going to probably want to wall-mount a bracket to add stability, because the headboard only attaches to the platform at the bottom. We have this pushed up against a wall, but there's still some wiggle room. Will be adding brackets of some type.Over all, for the price, this is a decent bedroom set for a young adult. It's not heirloom quality of course, but if you're not too picky and don't have a lot of money to spend, I think you will be very pleased with the look. The longevity remains to be seen.Assembly is tedious, but not difficult. Just leave yourself lots of room and read the instructions completely through once before starting the steps. Did not use power tools, per instructions, but so long as you are careful, I think an electric screwdriver (phillips)/drill would not be remiss. Put this bed together in about an hour. None of the pieces required two adults (maybe two hobbits..?).Would I buy it again? The bed, headboard, and nightstand - yes. The long dresser - no. If you can pick it up and avoid shipping, that would be ideal.

Simple, Classy, and affordable.
Beautiful, elegant bed. I've put this in my son's (5 years) room coupled with a foam mattress. No box spring needed (at least for my 12-inch thick foam mattress- also purchased on amazon). This allows the bed to sit at a comfortable, safe height for kids yet still provide some storage underneath (as opposed to some platform beds where you loose that space). I honestly would mind having the king version in my room as it looks quite good. The only reason I'm not putting five stars is because I haven't tried to move it in the year its been in use. I've heard from some that is when you may run into problems. That said, this bed has easily supported myself (185lbs), my son (42lbs) and my wife (122lbs) without issue. I believe that's a little more than its supposed to hold, but hasn't been an issue (we don't do that regularly obviously as this is only a full size bed). One other minor very minor thing... The corners posts of this bed stick our ever so slightly more than the sides of the bed. Its so little that its not obvious, but I have to say... my pinky toes have nailed that corner several times while traversing the room in the dark. Ouch... but not really the beds fault.

I purchased this platform bed 2 years ago and just had to dismantle it in order to move to a new apartment. I wanted to write a review incase anyone is wondering about moving with this bed and if it is doable. There are four horizontal pieces of wood that slide into the center with three particle boards that lay on top to support the mattress which pop out very easily. The frame itself just required loosening one screw at each corner and the pieces pulled apart with gentle wiggling. To put the frame back together all we have to do make sure the pieces are inserted at the corners, retighten the screws and then put the supporting wood back and it should only take about 20 mins tops.

Decent, but a bit too wide...
Assembly was easy and it's fairly solid. Only problem (which has been noted in other reviews) is the width of the platform. Using a standard full bed, the mattress doesn't completely cover the platform and the particle board platform is exposed. Needed to paint it black to hide it and make it look better. Also, the 'Gray Oak' color is darker than I expected (much more black than gray). It's nothing special, but it worked out.

Great looking bed
Great looking bed for the price! Easy enough to assemble. We purchased a matching headboard separately and it came with all the parts to put it on the frame.

Beautiful, sturdy, affordable!
I have bought a couple things from South Shore Furniture now and they never disappoint. The products are always easy to put together, high quality, and affordable. This platform bed frame is beautiful, low profile, sturdy, and there are no squeaks or creaks. We have a pretty small guest room in which a full/double bed JUST fits comfortably, so we were looking for something with a pretty small footprint and this bed frame worked PERFECTLY.The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because of the assembly. The instructions specifically say you shouldn't use a drill, but some of the places where screws were supposed to go in didn't even have pilot holes, so I don't know how you could possibly not use a drill. I did try assembling it with just a screwdriver as per the directions but it was impossible for me, so I ended up using a drill where it made sense which streamlined the process and made the assembly much easier. That being said, I was able to put the whole thing together by myself in under an hour which is a huge bonus.Note: The package when delivered is incredibly heavy and hard to carry, so plan on having help to get it in the door. If the bed frame is for upstairs, I'd suggest opening the box and taking the pieces in loads upstairs rather than trying to maneuver the fully-packaged product.

Good value for the price. I like dealing with Canadian companies.
The product offers good value. It's not expensive and it looks good. You have to be careful because it's relatively delicate for furniture. Pressboard is easily damaged and then becomes useless. Overall, by being careful the furniture looked good and made my daughter very happy.

Building it is VERY time consuming and complex.
Looks nice, very dark, almost black. EXTREMELY heavy, 123 pounds! Reasonably sturdy. Very complex and time consuming to put together. It totals 21 pieces of formed wood, and 127 screws, dowels, brackets, etc. I needed about 2.5 hours to put it together.

Looks great
Exactly what I was looking for and wanted. Okay to assemble. My 160 lbs dogs jumps on it once in a while and it stands strong. No noise at all when I move.
