Definitely not going to keep out someone who REALLY wants to get into this, but we use it to keep the kids away from medications. The only place we have to store medications is an open shelf which didn’t seem safe enough with young children who are getting smart enough to figure out the “child proof” medication lids. We decided that up high on that shelf is not enough because… stools… these give that added comfort that the kids would have to work extra extra hard and make a lot of noise to get into the medications. We can also lock up controlled medications when a guest will be around. They would have to break the box to get anything and we would know.

This will not stop a thief who is willing to smash the box and run. Including the thief that is known to the safe owner like a relative with a drug problem and a history of theft (often tolerated or overlooked for fear of involving law enforcement). This kind of thief could also smash the case.This case is not heavy so it's easily carried off.The thief may crack the combination. There are a 1000 possible 3 digit combinations possible on this safe , with enough time and patience the code can be discovered by a determined enough thief. As a test I had the combo set by my wife, she did not tell me the code. I then began to spin the 3 dials at random, giving each dial a few spins at a time before checking the lock - I discovered the correct code after trying about 30 different randomly arrived at codes. Perhaps it was just luck.A similarly determined thief who discovers the code may steal from the safe and then reclose/reset the lock in hopes that the owner of the safe won't notice a theft has taken place, at least not at first - delaying discovery while the thief escapes..Or, someone familiar like a family member or employee (another drug addict perhaps) may steal from the safe and lock it back up in order to put off discovery to a later day or to assist in gaslighting the safe owner by allowing time enough for possible suspects to come and go, unwittingly garnering suspicion through proximity and thereby muddying the water.It's okay as a minor deterrent but I wouldn't count on it in the presence of drug addicts or in high theft areas.Probably best used as a way of keeping drugs out of reach of small children.

I bought this to lock up snacks. It was easy to assemble and easy to set the lock. However, the locking mechanism doesn't hook through anything; it locks behind a lip of plastic. My 12-year-old (neurodivergent with limited self-control) saw it as a challenge and had it pried open in a matter of minutes.So this will work with toddlers but not with determined pre-teens!

I used these for holding ans storing meds and sharp knives.

Wife wanted to secure some electronic items. It is plastic but does the trick. Works as designed.

Wanted to store medications and keep them out of reach for toddlers and older geriatric people but it's not strong enough if it falls out breaks.

Definitely not something that would keep serious drug seekers out of the meds but enough to keep small kiddos protected probably. Smaller than a shoebox, won't hold tall bottles either. Does hold about a dozen prescriptions and a few over the counter bottles. Plastic snaps together nothing fancy. Overpriced in my opinion but does what it says. Just make sure you measure!

My lunch at work kept disappearing. I ordered this to put my lunch and drinks in. It was easy to put together and I haven't had my lunch go missing since!
