None of the pictures give you a good view of how close to the hot grill your hand will be. One picture, viewed closely, shows this thing being held at the very end with only one finger. That's bad enough but what you can't see is what makes it worse. If you drop it don't try to catch it. Every single edge is sharp. It comes in a plastic bag so returning it would be too much of a PIA. Never made it out of the kitchen, from the box to the trash. Buyer beware. Look closely at the pictures. Look at my reviews. I take my reviews seriously and have always looked out for my fellow Amazonians. It's a week before Thanksgiving so happy holidays to all.

I had the grill grate lifter/grabber that I got when I bought my Kamado Big Joe, and thought I'd get another one just to make it easier to lift the cast iron grates when they're hot. My worry about buying another one was that it might not be the same as the one I already had. While the dimensions are slightly different in some places, it's essentially the same tool, although it doesn't say Kamado Joe on it. It all respects it functions exactly the same as the original. The spring tension is the same, the material is the same, and it works the same. I recommend this product. BTW, you can lift the deflector plates with it, too.

I didn't realize how inconvenient it was taking the grate in and out without this tool. This is one of those things you don't realize how much you need until you have it and are using it. I looked at some more expensive options and am so glad I went this route. I can't think of anyway to improve upon this tool. I guarantee you it's the best thing you can find for your BGE under $10. :)

Not much to say other than buy this instead of the oem "big green egg" branded one for three times the cost. They function identically. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they were manufactured in the same facility.

awkward to use with needed gloves....should be longer .
