The scientific genius of Leonardo da Vinci is brought to life through this articulated model. The invention that inspired this snap-together replica is taken from the pages of Da Vinci's priceless and awe-inspiring notebooks. This model is made of plastic, snaps together and requires no special tools. The manual is very educational and teachs how this invention has evolved into what it is today. Leonardo da Vinci designed the first self-propelled cart capable of moving without being pushed or pulled manually. The precursor to the automobile was one of the many inventions that da Vinci created dealing with locomotion and transportation. No batteries required. Also known as DV009

Not what expected.
The box says for ages 8 and up. I seriously doubt an 8 year old has the muscle to snap some of the parts together. The model also shipped with mismatched forks for the front steering wheel; which I didn't discover, until after I had put the furniture vise away, from assembling the "easy snap together parts".I had to return the whole model.I decided, since I was returning it, to go ahead and see how the rest of the model went.Well, I guess if you're 8 years old, it looks pretty spiffy. If you're 12-16, you might question some of the cosmetics.Pieces turn, almost touch, particulary in the steering, counter-balance system. But, perhaps I am too harsh on a $15.00 model.I would think it a good gift for my niece,or nephew but am unsure if they could assemble it (as neither are lumberjacks) - due to the snap-together-parts, that are neither smooth, nor easyAs far as educational, you really don't learn how the cart actually functioned.

The quality is amazing, it even has a booklet with nice historic information, but I was expecting that this kit to be more accurate to the real cart, since most of the functionality on this kit is not real, so if you were expecting a real and functional replica of Leonardo Sel-Propelled cart, this is not.

It looks cool, but doesn't work well
It says 8 and up, but you will need the hands of a professional arm wrestler to snap it together. The mechanism does not mirror that of the original design. The spring that runs it does not hold enough tension to propel if forward. It looks cool, but doesn't work well. The informational pamphlet about Da Vinci is really well done. Could be used as an education prop and research aid for a school project.

nice model 2
Good model, see other review... fiddly bits but looks good next to the other modelsforgot to mention in the other post, but all three models pieces were cut well and fit snugly together on each of the ones purchased.

Looks cute, but does not work
Although the finished product looks cute, I have 2 issues with this product: Very hard to put together (not complicated, but needs lots of force to put it together) and end result is that the product does not really work. Therefore the educational value is very small. We are very disappointed about this set. Originally we had wanted to buy the whole set for our kids, but will certainly not do so after this.

Pretty basic staff, really doesn't do anything after you put it together.

cheap plastic model
piece of junk, save your money - this was not a da vinci mode like the wooden ones we had purchased previously - the parts did not fit very good and the model wasn't a "working" model at all
