I don't know what is going on with Amazon, but this is not the original book - but a printed e-book, on poor quality paper. As in, not a book in a traditional sense that you can buy from a book shop. The cover is flimsy and appears to be nothing more than photo paper. The printed images sometimes look grainy (not great considering this is an art book). Written on the back page are the words: "Printed by Amazon.co.uk".I have other 'Impact' art books, all very good quality, with glossy pages, proper covers etc. ACTUAL PROPER BOOKS.I emailed Amazon and they are not interested at all in my comments. A shame, because this is a charming and well written book by Barbara Lanza on painting fairies. There are fairies for all seasons and all occasions, and of different ages. The only thing is that there are only female fairies.There's the usual introduction on tools and materials, followed by a colour chart and a short introduction on colour harmony. Throughout the book, there are guidelines and little projects to follow (very detailed step-by-step painting instructions for each fairy, some over several pages). At the same time the author encourages you to follow your own path and discover your own style when you are ready. I received the book this morning so may write a more detailed review when I've attempted some of the projects.If only I could find an original copy of this book, I would return this poorly printed copy from Amazon.Considering this is a poorly printed version, it is not worth the current RRP of £16.99.

Book arrived in excellent condition and in good time. The pictures are beautiful and inspiring. Perfect for a little girl who loves faeries and wants to improve their drawing, and painting.

My daughter loves to draw and she really took off after reading through this book. She took different pictures and made her own versions of them and then began making up her own compositions. It was a great idea starter for a child who loves fantasy art.

A beautiful book with clear, easy to follow instructions. A great addition to any collection for fairy lovers/artist. As a lover of fantasy and creator of fantasy art for many years I enjoyed this book very much. I especially love the fairy babies included in this book,since they often seem be left out.

This book is really more about how to paint in watercolor and gives great techniques on how to do so. I haven't taken any classes in watercolor and think this book is just the thing to teach me how. The fairies are cute and charming, so if you're looking for that type of fairies to learn to draw, this is the book. If you want a more alluring or sexy fairie, then you'll need a different book. This book also gives you excellent techniques on how to paint and draw flowers, leaves and wings. I would have given this book 5 stars if it gave more instruction on the drawing of fairies. It gives you a full frontal and a 3/4 side view of baby, child and adult fairies, but it doesn't give you techniques on drawing movement or flying. If someone is a novice they really won't be able to learn how to draw fairies in flight from this book. All-in-all it has a lot of lovely vibrant water color paintings and techniques, so I would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn how to watercolor, or who is interested in cute fairies.

Ms. Lanza's book does have a small overview of materials and an introduction to art for the new artist. Then she gives us 16 examples that each span multiple pages, of how to work from a line drawing to a finished painting. There are inserts on most of these pages detailing how she achieved a particular effect or to show close-up details on the evolution of something small in the painting. I liked the extra attention and space given to these and the fairies are beautiful throughout.
