Does this work with chalk.

Yes, this compass can be used with chalk. We recommend using the included rubber foot as the suction cup won't stick well to dusty chalk boards. The other leg has a clamp that will accept chalk.

Can I fit a standard dry erase marker in it?

Yes. The holder is adjustable but works best with a normal / standard sized dry erase marker.
