It has a lot of good information and is very inspiring.

Just got this awesome book, and am already inspired!... The description says it is for intermediate painters. I am really just a beginner. That being said, I think that excellence is in itself inspiration for any level of artist. Some of us "would be" artists find color theory and selection to be a real mystery. The author has covered the subject with examples and explanations that help make the choices easier to envision, and help in determining what colors of paint to buy to achieve the "heart stopping" color impact in her paintings. Choices of watercolor paint colors are legion, and thus quite confusing. Shirley Trevena is a modern day Matisse. I am also waiting for delivery of one of her dvd workshops. Can't hardly wait!!

I've already bought Shirley's book "Taking Risks with Watercolour" and could not put it down. When "Vibrant Watercolours" came out I bought that plus her DVD and was totally absorbed into her painting process, use of strong pigments, and daring techniques. Ignoring perspective for the most part, she gives an artist permission to draw and paint what we see, reaching deep within our own creativity for ideas and impulses. Last month I taught a watercolor class based on her style and it was most liberating. Now I've bought "Vibrant" again for an elderly artist who, like me, just can't get enough of Trevena's teaching. Highly recommend reading each page slowly again and again with each of her books, then try setting up your own still life and just go with the flow!

The seller was in the UK, not easy to see in the initial offer in the marketplace. Wish I had known since it arrived outside the post mailing estimate and had to be relabeled for the USPS. The book itself completes the series of three books on her unique process. Read all three cover to cover. Even though there was some overlap in the images covered but it was nice to see another perspective on the techniques used.

Love this book but it was expensive

I love this artists work. I bought her second book thru Amazon and found out she had published one before this, so of course must have it. Her approach to watercolor is very unique as in her book "breaking rules" explains her approach. This book is much more informative as to how she works, what she works with and her inspirations. It's a good study for those who are nonconformants. Some day I will get her video. Thanks D. Weed

Shirley Trevena is a most gifted watercolorist. Her work shown in this 2nd book of hers that I purchased through Amazon is so inspiring. Her use of color, her composition, her unique vision of still lifes, and her writing style is down to earth and very informative. Her paintings are very emotionally stirring every time I look at them. Do not pass this book up.

I love her work, this book is different than most how to watercolor books, I don't feel she means the student to paint in her style but rather she opens up new ideas on what can be done with space, composition & color. This is not a follow along recipe book.

As a follow-on to her first book Taking Risks with Watercolour I found Vibrant Watercolours a bit disappointing. It adds nothing to what has been said before. There are more examples of Trevena's creative approach to watercolour but some paintings are less inspirational than others and some even appeared in Taking Risks. The first book is well-worth buying. I'm not so sure about this one.

Beautiful pictures, very interesting methods and very inspiring! Have started painting a picture in the style of...and ordered another two of her books...

I love this book - it has rekindled my interest in watercolour as an art medium. Shirley Trevena reveals a modern individual approach to using watercolour without losing any of its magical qualities. She still retains the delightful transparency of the medium whilst invigorating her work with colour, abstraction and a very personal approach.

Love Shirly Trevena's work beautiful book.

This book puts the 'colour' into watercolours.No longer need they only be pale and transparent.Opened the book and couldn't wait to get my paints out.
