Aerostar 16 1/2 x 21 1/2 x 1 MERV 8 Pleated Air Filter, AC Furnace Air Filter, 6 Pack (Actual Size: 16 1/2"x21 1/2"x3/4")

I ordered these as furnace filters of the 20x25x4 variety have become way too expensive since the pandemic. They are now about 40USD for one, where they were about half that previously. After much research, I decided to go with the MERV8 stnadard instead of the MPR1000 (MERV11) since the furnace does not require it and the amount of dust collected means that I change filter between four and six times per year.Overall, these look very similar to the name brand ones. Though the cardboard frame seems a bit thinner, it seems to be strong enough so far. The paper and the wire seem about the same. When installing though, I discovered that the 4in thickness is about 1/2" thinner than the name brand ones, which may be an issue if your frame will not hold them in place.Please note that these arrived in a cardboard box with no wrapping inside.... just six bare filters in a cardboard box. If the box gets wet, these will be ruined.If you can get these delivered dry, they may work for your furnace air filter frame depending on the thickness adaptability. I am waiting to check them next month to see if they are getting darker from all of the dust which it the main issue for us. I will update this review if they are worse than expected, but they seem to be stable in our Aprilaire air intake frame. I am cautiously rating these four stars for now. As always, your mileage and preferences may vary...

I have been using these filters for a number of years now.I think ther'e a good deal.The cardboard frame is actually marked with the Merv rating, size, directional arrow and brand.Some of the other brands even the more expensive ones are completely blank.I don't really trust those to be the actual brand or Merv rating that is claimed on their website.This might seem small and unimportant that the cardboard frames are coated with a white slick surface but I have noticed this helps to keep the dust and lint from collecting on the frame itself.It's just a nother small fact in their favor.These filters have a wire mesh backing throughout the entire corrugated filter.The filter corrugation adds stability, strength and increased filtration volume. The cardboard frame is securely glued together on all corners and seams.Some of the other brands have very little adhesive securing cardboard the frames together and easily fall apart during installation or use.I like the fact that the frame is made of a thick and sturdy cardboard.That also helps to keep their shape during installation and use.This brand has a good selection of sizes and Merv ratings in my opinion.My A/C unit has three returns, that consists of two sizes.Which are both on my automatic Amazon subscription. I use this brand for both sizes.I am very satisfied with the results.

I love these. I do wish they arrived in a manufacture's box that they can remain in for storage. No matter what end you open the entire box unravels to be flat. Thankfully I saved a box from Nordic AC Filters the other year that I can keep reusing for storing filters in my closet.

Arrived well packaged and arrived fast.This grade filter seems to work the best as it does the job without being 'too much filter ' for the air to exchange easily so furnace blower doesn't overwork trying to get air through. Will buy again.

I always thought the higher the Merv the better. But according to every HVAC tech on YouTube unless you have severe allergies Merv 8 is about the right mix of air flow and filtering. So I got these and they have been working great and it's a fraction of the price I was paying in the box stores. And according to all those HVAC techs it should extend life of furnace so that's cool too.

After a furnace replacement, these were the recommended size and MERV rating for the filter box. In ordinary use they are designed to last for half a year. Replacements at the big box stores and mail order supply companies can run to over 20 dollars a pop. These are significantly less expensive and do the job they are intended to do. They are slightly smaller than the indicated size, but this does not decrease their efficiency. This makes them easier to remove and replace.

Didn't open the box - these were for rental house. These were recommended by the HVAC company I use whose opinions I trust. Not sure about cost, but didn't seem unreasonable and didn't break the bank. Mine, not SVB.

I will buy these filters again. A great value. There was some damage to the filters upon receipt. The filters are surrounded by only light-duty cardboard framing, but I believe that was done in shipping, and not a fault of the product manufacturer. A great buy!M.P., Kansas City.

I bought these filters looking at so many positive reviews. I have always bought 3m or Kirkland brand filters for my lennox furnace, they are pricier but work well for atleast 2 months or so. The frame on these is very weak and they bend inwards in the direction of air flow as noted by some other reviewers. These hardly last for 2 weeks or so and then there is a significant reduction in air flow. I can hardly feel any air from vents, as soon as i pop a new one, air flow is back to normal. Feel like filters get clogged easily and restricts air flow in a matter of few days. Dont recommed these at all, spend the extra $$ and get something better

Not much to say here. These filters offer good value for a pack of six ($34.21 at time of my purchase) which should last the better part of a year assuming replacing every couple of months. I've been told by HVAC experts that these value filters are at least on par with their more expensive counterparts and offer adequate and acceptable filtering for the average home. No need to cough up major dough for a single expensive filter when this option is available.I will gladly buy again when the need arises, and have no issues recommending to others.* Helpful votes always appreciated *

Good quality filter with wire mesh. These are not the super thick "expensive" filters found in stores, but, then again, it was recommended by my furnace tech to avoid the high priced ones, as they do not allow for enough airflow and the material is simply too tight and dense.These are exactly what I need, and having a pack of six makes replacing a breeze. Plus, they are shipped straight to the house. What could be easier!

My wife is allergic to dust mites so we considered using Hepa Filters. However , a furnace guy told us that such filters put added strain on the furnace so we are trying to use these, in conjunction with room hep filters, but change them every month instead of every 6 months. This size of filter is hard to find locally so having these at a good price is great.

Decent value for the price, I would still buy again, but not too happy with the build quality. The frame is quite flimsy. We had the same one installed prior to moving in our new home, and the filter practically came apart when we removed it from the slot.
