Easy and Fun to Use on Many Different Materials
We purchased the XTool D1 Pro from Amazon. The machine arrived quickly and was packaged very well. It was easy to put together/assemble. After testing out some of the products included in the set, we had a problem with the laser head shorting out which damaged the motherboard, deeming it unusable. We emailed customer service and they responded within hours to try and help with the issue. After a few messages back and forth and attempts at resolution, it was still not working. XTool offered to send a complete machine replacement. The exchange process was easy and quick. They sent a new machine and a shipping label to return the damaged machine at no additional cost to us. We have used the new machine on wood, metal, plastic and leather. All resulted in a wonderful end product. We highly recommend the XTool D1 Pro for personal or business use.

Dependable! Great Customer Service!
I have had my D1 Pro 20w for about 6 months now and I love it! The learning curve is not to bad with all the available information from XTool. Their material sheets and settings gives you a great starting point for your machine. I have engraved pretty much everything I can safely on my machine! I have already paid off the machine doing craft shows and fairs! It is a machine that gives you endless opportunities to make gifts for family and friends or to make money on the side. Definitely glad I purchased my laser from XTool! I’ve had to use their customer service a few times and they have taken care of me without hassle and with professionalism! Thank you XTool!

Easy to start and easy to finish. Just make sure you have an enclosure!
I purchased the D1 Pro as a starting point for a hobby business. I thought the setup looked nice and easy, and I was correct. Assembly was quick, about an hour, and the XCS made doing a first job a breeze. Since my purchase, we have done slate coasters, painted canvas, tumblers, even wooden ornaments were a quick cut out. Had a bearing go bad a short time after purchase but was able to get it resolved with customer support fairly quickly. After a couple of emails they mailed out a full new set of bearings at no cost and they arrived in a couple of days. Make sure you have an enclosure if you are using the D1Pro in a confined space. Heck, make sure you have an enclosure even if you are using it in an open space. That way you can blow the smoke away from you instead of just it billowing out of the machine!

Another Well built XTOOL
I’m a newbie to laser but have a lot of experience with other CNC type machines like CNC routers. This system was easy to figure out. At first I thought it broke on the second project. Always make sure you select the material you are using as I made this mistake and when I went to engrave the power was set to 1% and it looked like the laser stoped working. My bad. My friends think my work looks amazing. Photo is an ornament, my first project

Not so great
Seemed to work okay, but setup was difficult. It is not beginners friendly. Once set up I was advised by Xtool themselves that out would cut metal, this is hardly the case, for even this materials. I have used the tool less than 200 hours and now the laser unit does nothing. I reached out to support twice and they did not even respond to my emails. I finally have up. It now just sits on the desk doing nothing. I originally purchased it through Xtool support taking me it would engrave metal business cards. I even ordered cards recommended by them. I could barely get it to engrave shale and didn't leave anything but burn marks on the metal cards. I tried all the recommended settings, watched videos, etc. I have an M1 and so far it seems fine but they say it will not do metal cards right in the settings. Really disappointed in how much I spent on this product.

Good laser, Mixed customer service
Update #3: xTool (Max Chan) reached out to resolve some of the issues. He sent replacement bearings as well as partially refunded my order due to all of the issues. Definitely happy with my xTool so far and I will consider another in the future as long as the customer service stays improved like it has been. We will see what the future holds! Thank you for all of the help, and the understanding Max with xTool! Update #2: xTool sent a replacement optical shaft and issues have been resolved after replacing and carefully tensioning the belts. I’ve been able to make several high quality engravings/cuts without issue. Overall, I’m happy with the laser, but unhappy with the customer service as well as the quality of the parts that have arrived. Although customer service did eventually get the parts sent to me, it seemed as if every conversation was an argument, requiring defending. “We thought you actually troubleshot the issue” is not an appropriate way to support a customer after sending bad parts- especially when reached out to for help. Although this laser is performing well now, I will personally never buy another xTool product simply because the treatment, and not trying to make it up in any way. I know others have had different experiences but these were mine. Update: Currently working with xTool to resolve issues. Will modify review as long as issues get sorted It was easy to assemble and not too bad to get started up. After stating the machine I was getting consistently wavy lines worked with the belts, couplings, and squaring of axis’ with no luck. Borrowed some bearings from a friend and waviness went away. After a week xTool sent me the replacement X carriage… again with faulty bearings. Also found it doesn’t come with the belt holder clip and mine has stripped screws? (This is brand new and it looked like someone stripped it out before I even tried removing them) I was able to find a combination of the two sets of bearings that work okay but still produce slightly wavy lines and is unacceptable for a piece of equipment this price. Additionally, it struggles terribly when rounding corners. I know it’s the holiday season, but the lack of customer support, and timeliness of resolving the issues has really ruined my outlook towards xTool and I’ll be looking to return if not resolved quickly.

Being retired I thought I would start a new hobby. "How hard could a laser engraver be to use?" Well I found out my answer. It's easy. There is so many online videos and help forums that the learning curve is relatively short. So far there is not a cutting board, wood board, slate, drinking glass safe from me and my engraver. Price is higher than I like to pay but is consistent with the competitors. I havent experienced xtools customer service so I cannot comment on that but otherwise I am happy with my purchase

First of all, I was very impressed with the quality and detail of the packaging. Putting it together was so easy. The instructions are really detailed and easy to follow. The machine is very steady and well-fabricated. You can start doing projects right out of the box, it has a lot of material samples, and the software is easy to download and use. I got a really good special on the price... in general, I'm pleased with this machine!!

I first ordered this D1 Pro, 20W in November 2022 in order to engrave on metal. I was intrigued by the descriptions used by XTool that promised “Engraving 340+ Colors On Metal Steel.” After a few attempts to engrave on metal, I found that it didn’t work, and I returned the machine. I wrote a review to advise customers against buying the machine if their main goal was to engrave on metal. A few weeks later I was contacted by XTool to apologize about a misunderstanding of the description, and advised to use head 1064nm Infrared Module instead of the standard head that comes with the machine. Once again, I was was willing to invest on the machine to try engraving on metal. I reordered the machine as well as the 1064nm Infrared head. They were delivered within a couple of days, and I started trying the machine. For over a week, the machine has been working extremely well, and the results have surpassed my expectations. Before I finish my review, I would like to give a shout out to XTool for the following: First, its amazing customer service. They have been very understanding and willing to offer their expertise and advices whenever needed. Second, the quality of the material used in the machine. The machine is well built, sturdy and seems to be able to do what it is supposed to do. Third, the machine's impressive elegance including its colour and packaging. Finally, based on my experience, so far, I can comfortably say I recommend the XTool D1 Pro, 20W. For the price, it is definitely a win win. I will keep using the machine, and will update this review in the future, if needed.

This laser is amazing. I was surprised by the assembly required but after some initial worry about it, all went well. The packaging is extremely high quality and I was impressed all in all. The software has given me some moments of extreme frustration but I’m getting there.

It's amazing the things you can do with this laser engraver. I have engraved all kinds of different wood, slate coasters and even pencils. There are so many different project ideas that you can learn from Youtube. You will also find this D1 Pro 20 watt laser highly recommended on YouTube. The free software is all I use. I bought a second software that is quite common, but I prefer the xtool creative software better. I had one small issue with one of the leg extensions. I notified the seller and had the replacement within a very short time. Excellent customer service . Assembly was pretty well straight forward. Knowing all I know about laser engravers, I'd buy this one again without hesitation.
