Prepare yourself for the nonstop, action-adventure thrill ride JUDGE DREDD -- exploding onto Blu-ray for the first time, featuring an all-new digital restoration with enhanced picture and sound. In a time when all-powerful "judges" act with supreme authority of both the police force and legal system, Judge Dredd is the most feared law enforcer of them all. When a former judge devises a sinister plot to bring him down, Dredd with stop at nothing to even the scales of justice! Review: Justice Has a New Name - As a fan of the iconic Judge Dredd comics, I was thrilled to discover the 1995 film adaptation available on Blu-ray. And I have to say, this high-definition release does not disappoint. "Judge Dredd" is a classic sci-fi action film that delivers non-stop entertainment from start to finish. One of the standout features of "Judge Dredd" is the film's setting. The film takes place in a dystopian future where the world is ruled by law and order enforced by a group of elite police officers called Judges. The sets and costumes are impressively designed, creating a fully-realized world that is both gritty and futuristic. But what really makes "Judge Dredd" stand out is the performance of its lead actor, Sylvester Stallone. Stallone fully embodies the character of Judge Dredd, bringing a sense of intensity and gravitas to the role. His portrayal of the iconic character is both intimidating and captivating, making it impossible to take your eyes off the screen. The action sequences in "Judge Dredd" are also a highlight. The film features a number of impressive set-pieces that are both thrilling and visually stunning. From high-speed chases to explosive shootouts, the film is packed with excitement and adrenaline-fueled moments. But "Judge Dredd" isn't just mindless action. The film also explores deeper themes of justice, morality, and the role of law in society. It raises thought-provoking questions about the nature of power and the dangers of unchecked authority. In conclusion, "Judge Dredd" on Blu-ray is a must-have for fans of the character and the sci-fi action genre. Its impressive visuals, intense action, and powerful performances make it a standout film that is sure to entertain. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an action-packed and thought-provoking viewing experience. Review: Must see - This is a really fantastic film. Visually stunning. I enjoyed this make up of the future better than bladerunner. I wish Stallone could have played in a part 2. It had potential. He was perfect in the role, the world was well fleshed out but this was a good introductory film with a fairly standard plot. Framed for something he didn’t do and has to come back and take care of the lunatic bad guy and clear his name. Another installment could have been great but it’s too late now. So just enjoy it, great action movie for anyone.

A good actioner despite its flaws
For a high production value, it nails a lot of aspects of the series: Blade Runner-style mega-city, impractical uniforms, gritty urban violence and decay, the wasteland of the Cursed Earth and the weapons and vehicles (including flying cars). But even for all that, there are problems: one character who absolutely should be played by Stallone is not, an obvious clue in a major event taking place is ignored when everyone should know about it, and a few other things. Since this is an adaptation of the Judge Dredd comics made by 2000 AD, I'll list some of this film's huge cardinal sins: 1) Dredd's face is shown --- In the comics, he is never revealed. Since 1977, his face has been masked or in shadow, and while we can approximate what he looks like, the exact image is a mystery 2) Romance ---- Judges like Dredd are absolutely forbidden to have relationships, with anyone, or they hand in their badge, but this film brings it in anyway 3) The uniforms --- While mostly gotten right, the film has a harness instead of the gold chain connected to a large badge for the standard uniform, for no clear reason 4) Rico --- As noted above, he should look like Dredd, since they're clones, but while Armand Assante does a great job at acting, the crew dropped the ball on having Stallone double himself 5) Fergee --- In the comics a big bruiser with a slight learning curve, but here via Rob Schneider a comic relief hacker 6) Professor Dredd --- Dredd is a street Judge, and while he was offered the Chief Judgeship, he refused, so why this film has him teaching cadets at the Academy is baffling (and they put him in uniform, and show his face) 7) Dredd the Comedian --- In the comics, he's pretty much always stone-faced, but here he has a full range of emotions The film is fun enough and watchable (plot's certainly not lacking, and the violence is good), but for Dredd fans, it can be a hard pill to swallow with all its errors.

Judge Freed much better than you remember!
After my recent disappointment with a 4K film, this Judge Dredd blue ray is an absolute gem, not sure if my 4K player upscaled the movie or not, but the sound and picture quality is excellent, and with the exception of Dredd's face being seen, the storyline is fairly accurate to several stories from 2000 AD!

I am assuming if you like this movie that getting this bluray will be nice because for once i am pretty sure you wont have to double dip for a 4k on this cause i doubt Disney will bring this to 4k anytime soon. And since this Bluray is the only way we will get to enjoy this Stallone underated classic i am glad to report that Disney(this movie was from them i believe) did a stunning restoration job for the bluray.I was surprise at how good this movie looked on Bluray considering its not a cherish title from the company lol. There is a nice grain structure/layer wich points to no DNR used at all.The colors pop.The sound is also pretty good. Now for the movie i always liked this movie. Its fun.Its very different than the Judge Dredd remake with Karl Urban.I like both movies and both movies have theyre charms. The stallone version is more cheezy for sure lol.But good kind of cheezy in the style of 80's or 90's movie classics. One thing to mention is the score for the movie produced by Alan Silvestri who did classic scores for predator and back to the future to mention a few.His score for judge dredd is fantastic. Its another winner. It fits the movie perfectly and its bombastic, loud and grandiose. One thing the movie did that peed off fans of the comics was to make the hero remove his helmet for most of the movie. But then again thats expected given the star was stallone right? i dont think given how much the studio paid him that they wanted to cover him up for most of the time. You never cover up an A- lister like that in a movie. Its just not done.Rob schneider is a bit anoying but he pairs well with sly. There is a bunch of great supporting actors in here.Jurgen Prochnow,Armand Assante,Diane Lane and Max Von Sydow. The sets in the movie look great. It has that comic book feel world. So anyways if you like stallone classics from the 90's get this bluray it has never looked better.
